Ahhh.. Me using my legs. So much memories. 

You guys should know by now that I spend a lot of time talking to myself, talking to myself on this blog, and sometimes also shooting videos of me talking to myself. Things got a little wild recently, I actually have someone else to talk to! (YAY! That's like 100% improvement. If that's not wild I don't know what is man!) 

So we have Sophee from Australia. She is a travel blogger and she was here to explore Singapore. And because I'm talented I got lucky (I don't mean it THAT way) and was invited onto her web show! 

Being quite the traveller myself these days, there is nothing more exciting for me than to show other travellers around Singapore and also to point out some of my favourite local Instagram spots! It's pretty much a no-brainer for me and the production team to think of where to hit since we were looking for somewhere artsy and essentially very local. 

Did you manage to guess where? We were at Children Little Museum which was rather near where Sophee was staying at Rendezvous Hotel Singapore. It's one of those places that makes you feel like you have stepped into a time machine. Nope, you will not become young and skinny again but you get to see things which make you feel like it was just yesterday when you were running around the corridor playing "block catching" with your neighbour who is probably now married with 3 kids. Ahhhh.. Life has indeed taken a toll on us.

And after that we headed down to Supermama. One of those shops that sell local art pieces including some of those Dragon Playground souvenirs that both locals and tourists would want to bring one home. By locals I mean myself lah.

Enough of talking, just take a look at the video below. I love doing such projects cause I get to yak yak yak yak. And this video was actually pretty well circulated.

My First Stop Motion Video!

Thinking about what-life-is-all-about and also what should I have for dinner.

I have been on my fair share of videos, tv shows, and movie but this is the 1st time I am actually in a stop motion video!

So what happened was a group of friends and I volunteered to be part of this project by National Gallery Singapore and DBS. We went on down to the gallery and help them did some shoot to create a stop motion video. Inspired by them, we thought why shouldn't we do something ourselves instead of just shooting others. I mean, I believe I look quite good myself to have my own stopmo right?

Stop motion videos ain't exactly difficult to do. Pris has this app on her iphone - Stop Motion. (I know, like super direct name. You can just go onto app store and download it.) So the rule of thumb is simple, background and camera stays as still as possible and the subject(s) in there have to move around.

So without thinking much about it or coming out with a mood board or what not we decided to go with the subject call "Beng Fall". (A bit like Adele's skyfall but not really.)

This is when you decided to do a squat on the top of the stairs. Ah Beng Squat is a very dangerous stunt, so kids, do not try this at home without adult supervision.

As I understand that we are all growing older as I am. So I have decided to make a slower version for you old people guys in case you missed my brilliant acting skill.

And since I already have the pictures and I thought why waste it? I did a erm... reversed version and call it Beng Up! (I mean that's the whole idea of milking things right? Like some director who had a good script and just keeps on recycling it to make part 2,3,4,5 and god knows until 99 or more.

And stop motion videos doesn't stop at just human being silly. It can also be used on other subjects like toys, fruits and etc. Like my childhood favourite - Soupe Opera!

Bro, can help or not?

2015 was one of those years that the stars were aligned very well for me. No lah, I'm not going to review my 2015 again cause I already did that but I'm just bringing it up. I wouldn't say I am successful in life nor in my business (yet) but I would say I've a little reputation for what I do, or maybe simply because I brag about it too much on my blog on Facebook. :x

Because of that, I get a lot people coming to me for "2 cents worth" of advice or help. (I'm pretty sure this saying started off because the person was being passive aggressive about getting paid for his help instead of free advice right? That's how business consultant make a living right?) I'm not complaining given how preachy much I like to share be it online of offline. 

I don't believe I'm god but okay. 

So what are some of the things people want from me? It's pretty much the same thing in different forms; 

1. What should I blog about if I wanna start a blog? 
2. I'm starting a business, can you take a look at my business plan and give me some feedback?
3. I need some social media help for my business, do you think you can help me take a look?
4. I need to look for a specific blogger to endorse this product, any idea who is good? 
5. I got a client with X product, do you know anyone in the industry that I can place the product there and sell?
6. I'm now working for X product, can you help me blog for free? (This is a long story but TL;DR, I do help that base on case to case basis) 

Or the even more interesting and less work ones will be like 

1. Eh, I saw you lost weight, how ah?
2. That time you blog about xxxx product, really so good ah?
3. My friend is single for very long already, you got anyone to intro?
4. You always buy things from Taobao right? How do I buy ah? (Still top of the list) 
5. My wedding is coming, can you help me be the emcee (I'm usually okay with this if we are close friends but I've friends who make me do this and erm not even close and never ever seen them ever since wedding type. MUAHAH!) 
6. Your wife just got pregnant right.. can you help mine too buy insurance from me for your kid lah.

I mean the list goes on and on and on and I would like to think I'm a very helpful person and try my best to help everyone but I think some times there's only so much a friend can do especially when some of the things you are "asking for favour" is my job. Like I wouldn't go to my friend who sells the famous prawn noodle and ask "eh, can teach me how you cook noodles?" or "can help and give me one bowl for free?" People have to understand that services/man hours IS a cost too no? 

My fav 545 Whampoa Prawn Noodles at Tekka Centre. I always pay for my own noodles hor!

Of course, I too ask for help from some friends some times but mostly to erm, get my stuff proof read because grammar force is a little weak. I am not saying that we shouldn't help people in fact I always believe in paying it forward but it just doesn't make sense when these people ask for help from you but when their business or company has budget they will just go to other people to do a "proper job". What happened to my advice that brought you there? Help is help, abuse is abuse. Do not grey the line and abuse people just because they are nice lah! 

That being said, one of my favourite type of "help" is actually be on videos! No lah, not like because I'm attention whore (says the blogger) but because you know I really enjoy being in front of the camera. So recently I've started some mini projects here and there. Some pulled through some didn't and here's one of those that happened! 

See, funny how small this world is. Volvo used to be my client, in fact I was on the team that started their Social Media journey. So I actually know their cars pretty well. Years after that I'm actually doing a video review and the guys behind 201 productions is just a friend's friend who needed help looking for a chatty blogger. It was a really fun experience lah!

Eh, don't get me wrong hor, I am really not talking about you lah. And if you wanna ask me for help you can still ask okay?

I really like the fact that they have "2 levels" within the room. I really love the whole loft feeling. Something that is really different from our daily "pigeon hole" HDB.

I guess I really love this song because of the lyrics. Typical emo Chinese love song. How much one is willing to sacrifice to love and wait for someone even if there is no return, even if the other party is unaware. And my favourite line has to be,

What is Chinese New Year to you?

It's the time of the year that I hate the most again. Yup, you hear me right - Chinese New Year is the time of the year that I hate most. And if you missed it some years ago, here is a re-run and also maybe some additional points.

So what is Chinese New Year or the reunion dinner to you? A time to gather? A time to have fun, show off and what not? I guess I don't feel the importance of it because I do not really gather with my relatives and I only gather with my immediate family who is like something I do almost weekly, so it's really no big deal to me. Like how some like to put it, "if you love your partner, everyday is Valentine's day". So for me, everyday is reunion with the family.

Nothing beats spending time with these treasures of yours. 

Anyway, I got this few seconds of "fame" in a video done by NFC recently about reunion dinner:



That's me with no lines and just a few seconds of air time. HAHAHA. For that scene, we actually shoot like 4hours with multiple angles and a few lines but I guess this edited one makes sense, sending the message across in below 3 mins.

So what does this Chinese Tradition means to you? Something you enjoy? You treasure? Just a dinner? I am not too sure how many of us enjoy CNY but for me it's really not something that enjoyable.

I hate the feeling of rushing around and making small talks. Maybe it's because that's my job and I really rush around and do a lot of these small talks in daily lives and when it comes to a public holiday, I just wish to be in my boxers and sit in front of the TV with my beer, pizza and PS3.

I guess it also falls back onto how we were brought up and how the family help us to break the ice. My dad ain't someone who breaks the ice for us and thus I'm never really close to my relatives on my paternal end. My maternal relatives? I've no idea how we drifted apart either, we used to be closer and all but I guess me being the odd ball and the pain in the ass in the family did contribute to it. Maybe it's just me but I feel like I'm the one who is always different, the one who plays more, enjoy life and live on the edge. And they are all about being proper, work, being top of their food chain. Of course, they didn't say it in my face but that's how I feel most of the time. Sensitive? Maybe, but I guess that's just how it is now.

Getting married didn't make things easier, it's not exactly 2 head is better than one in this situation but rather more like too many chef spoils the soup. Who's tradition should we follow? Need to visit your mum's my mum's? Day one for husband's relatives? Day two for wife's relatives? But what if your in-laws want you back on certain day by certain time? I've no idea how people sort it out cause mine didn't went as smoothly as I wished it did during the planning stage but that being said, the visiting went pretty alright. (I guess, unless her relatives all hates me. LOL)

Anyway, I hope you are having a better Chinese New Year than I am! HUAT AHH!

In fact before I watched  "the experiment" myself, there are so many memories running through my head. Those crazy night when we drank so much that we can hardly walk home or worst getting ourselves into trouble. That's not all, can you remember all those hangovers? Not being able to move or get out of bed. Seriously, the price to pay for a good party is way too high. So, can we really replace alcohol with music to "get high" and have a good night? So it seems like the video's result speaks the truth! To be honest, I find that it's really interest for Heineken to be doing this campaign considering the fact that they are the one selling alcohol and not the one selling music! I find that really cool that it's not all about hard selling alcohol and pure drinking but also giving back in a way to reminder young party goers that drinking is cool but drinking responsibly is even cooler!

8频道《志在四方》Inspiration.

Says who we watch trashy TV from mediacorp all the time? It's not always about people loving someone and can't get him or her.

Recent drama -《志在四方》is pretty wicked IMO. The concept is really interesting. Here's a conversation between Zoe and Han Wei in last night's show that I was pretty inspired.  (sorry about the bad sound quality. Haven't know how to edit it properly.



It's something myself as a marketing/advertising person and even as a blogger faces so often. Should I do something "organic" and non-commercialize because I appreciate the idea? The ethnic of it? But all these social responsibility that we are holding on sometimes just doesn't pay the bill. How do we balance this?

Even for Facebook posts. As much as I wish to share a nice picture and get more likes but such call to action like "LIKE if you are a fan." and "If I get 10,000 likes I will...".  I never liked that cause I felt if you like it or you want to share you will do it. I rise my eyebrow every time I need to write such copy but the fact is that it works and it helps with the client's KPI.

Another of my biggest pet peeves is 'Flash Mob". I cringe every time a client say we should do a flash mob. To me, flash mob is fun and is done purely out of excitement. Why are we commercializing such act to launch your phone or DVD player? But I guess having fun ain't paying the bill.



So I guess we don't need Superman after all.

Singapore Idol Breast Implant.
