Ninja Turtles' Wish Came True: Domino's Pizza iPhone App

Smithankyou     6/13/2012 01:18:00 PM     domino's, iphone app, pizza, sponsored post     2 comments
Remember the days when the turtles have to go all "suited up" just to buy a pizza?

Seriously? Nobody recognize me?

Wouldn't it be way easier if they had sort of a gadget that they could easily just use to order app to their place? Wait, that would be a phone but what if it's something more than just a phone?

That would be an iPhone! Not too sure how their fingers would adapt to the touch screen though but my point is that you do not even need to call and wait and speak to any operator to order pizza now!

Introducing the iPhone app for Domino's Pizza! This app is FREE and can be easily downloaded off the app store. Sorry Android users, they are working on it but you guys gonna wait.

See! Even baby Jordan likes the App!

Once you load into the startup screen you will actually see some highlights of the day. Has A La Carte menu and even a favorite tab. With that tab you can easily order what you ordered before easily.

I selected the Double Loaded Meal under one of the "Domino's Deal"

Simply create an account.

Just a few simple steps

Select the order type. Your contact number will be the number you will use to track your order.

When you want it.

Choose the type of crust you would like.

Choose your topping.

Choose your side order that comes in the set.

Check your order.

See! They are so caring and even ask you if you want drinks to go along!

And they even include the "jackpot" game where you can earn additional sides! I won a twisty bread!

This is the really interesting part. More often than not when the delivery guy arrive you will always be running around the house asking if anyone has the exact change and this app even ask you in what denomination do you wish to pay in and they will prepare the exact change for you. NEAT RIGHT!

I started using the app for order at 12.26 and within less than 10mins (including all these screen shot, creating an account for the 1st time and thinking of how to blog.) my order is confirmed!

It even comes with a GPS tracker system where you can track you order! Don't worry the GPS tracker ain't stuck onto your pizza.(I hope not. :P )

A summary page of the time the order was completed and when the delivery will reach my office. Estimated 30mins but guess what? It actually reached at 1pm which is 3mins before targeted timing and this is lunch time we are talking about.

Lunch time at the comfort of your desk! AH NOM NOM NOM! Go Download it now and you can have you lunch in 30mins!

COWABUNGA DUDE!!

Mr.Smith, Heroes in a half shell - PIZZA POWER!

Alex Ong Pushes Old Lady vs Hong Kong Bus Uncle

Smithankyou     6/08/2012 11:05:00 AM     Alex Ong, bus, current affairs, singapore, Video     34 comments
Taking public transport from place to place is something most Singaporean does on a day to day basis but how often to you see people creating a scene on the bus? Not uncommon actually, I have seen way too many stressful people of Singapore doing weird things on board. So what happened this time?

A young man got "popular" thanks to social media platform for his act on the bus.

You all remember Hong Kong bus uncle many years ago?

His favorite line : " You've Stress and So do I".

So are people really very stress? Is the society too much for us to hack? Let's take a crack at this situation, these people who had their argument on the bus does not know each other, does not have any initial hatred or bad blood to begin with, so what's the hate and angst coming from?

Before I go on, let's take a look at what Alex Ong has to say.

I do not know Alex. I have no idea about what being said is true or should it even be taken into consideration since we saw the video and obviously he did push an old lady which is wrong.

Then again, who are we to judge what is right or wrong from a short video which started in the mist of the whole drama? Did we see what happened before? And how did we just immediately just jump into conclusion that it is Alex's fault?

1. Cause the "victim" is an old female who is "helpless"
2. Cause Alex is the one shouting and looking very rowdy.
3. Cause a nice looking bare back lady went and help the old lady and automatically we sympathize the older lady. No? It might sound like one of my humsup comments but think again.

And no, I am not protecting Alex and neither am I saying that it is the Auntie's fault for being stubborn. A push is a push and that's the mistake. Alex shouldn't have gotten physical with the auntie.

If I really need to pin point whose fault is it in this whole saga :

THE BLARDY BUGGER WHO TOOK THE VIDEO.

Everyone has a friend who will go "Eh, don't do that or else you kenna* stomp ah!." See! this is the blardy culture in Singapore now that most of us stop doing what we do not because we have learnt what is right or wrong but more because we do not want to get stomp!

What the hell is stomp you ask me? They say it is citizen journalism I say it's a f*cking piece of shit website that is socially and morally incorrect. Taking pictures or video of people who are unaware and than putting it up online for people to comment and make fun of, seriously?

You be the judge, your say: STOMP: Singaporean Seen.

So because of this person who took a video and posted it online, everyone commented and it hit the news.  No, I am not kidding you.

It's kind of like a domestic issue and incident that nobody would even take a 2nd look at it if not for the media. The polices are "stress" to come in and now Alex have to be put under investigation and go through the whole saga of people poking fun at him and calling him names. According to him he is already under a lot of mental issues but because of this, netizen are jumping into conclusion and passing comments from him being a "fake mental patient", comment about him being stress is because of his bad academic results and he shouldn't blame anyone, some called him gay with scarf and the most outrageous one are comments that blamed our government saying that it's their fault to make living standard high and education system too tough for people and Alex couldn't take it.  Seriously netizen? From a bus pushing incident and you can blame our government for it?

This is exactly the reason why I supported Xiaxue's article. it's simply because online user these days seriously not thinking and not taking responsibility of what they are doing. They simply think they can get away with all their comments.

And I am signing off with a picture for the dude who took the video:

Mr.Smith, you like to take video? Be like Edison lah!

*Kenna : get into, get "hit" by.

Did you buy twitter followers?

Smithankyou     6/07/2012 03:39:00 PM     ranting, social media, twitter     85 comments
Hi, I am rich and I would like to buy you as my friend. Can I do that in real life? I guess not but can I do it online? On twitter? On facebook or even youtube channels?

I've always been ranting talking about this issue over twitter and to some of my friends on the social media scene. I seriously hate cannot agree with people who buy followers. Before I go on, this is one of the many available links that you can buy "friends" from.

In fact one of the most popular platform is started by none other than the famous Mark Zukerburg. Known as LIKE STORE. You have no idea who Mark is? Nope, he is not the founder of Facebook but he is the founder of like store. Read more about Mark here.

Anyway, my point is why do you want to buy followers and buy like? Are you really that desperate to get friends or look famous? I will probably not blame most of these people who really buy it but more often I blame the marketing people(yes, including myself) which indirectly causes this to happen.

FYI to readers who has no idea why I am blaming the Marketing people, it's because very often our clients/bosses would like to know if the return of investment(ROI) to a certain bloggers is worth the money and on top of the clicks on their blog, what we will normally do is that we will actually estimate  calculate the number of reach/read base on their number of followers/readers/likes/fans on all the platform a blogger is on and than we will compared to our traditional media rate card from traditional media to give each blogger a "pricetag".

For example, a certain size advertorial on certain magazine gives you 300,000 reach for $2,500 for an issue which is 30 days and than we will take a blogger's reach for example 5,000 reach and we are paying him $250 for an advertorial and if you multiply the reach by 6 and the price by 6 it is actually cheaper than going to traditional magazine where you still have to provide artwork and such which adds up the cost. Thus a blogger with higher reach will make be more "valuable" in that way.

Please do not quote me that this is how everyone calculates the price or this is an industrial standard but I am just giving a daring assumption here but the idea is around there and because of this, it causes the bloggers to be very numbers sensitive. And of course, I am also not saying that more numbers of followers mean you are more influential or talented in anyway.

So with all these "wannabes" how can we identify who is really popular and who is not?

There are a few ways to identify and I am not saying that I am 100% right but this could be one of those signs that you can read.

Suspicious looking followers. 1 might be a bot, 2 might be coincidence but if it's a back to back of 50-60 numbers of more followers who follows a lot and very little followers and they all looks similar to what not on the list, they are most likely purchased followers.

There are also some other signs like - "list", "date of joining twitter" and even "number of tweets".

Let's take a look at some of the REAL popular local tweeple. Of course I am talking about Xiaxue and Mr.Brown.

Both of them are the Queen and GodFather of blogging and twitting in Singapore and they each have 100k and 60k followers respectively. They are both listed over 1,000 times, join twitter for more than 3 years at least and twitted around 20k +-.

Let's take a look at some local celebrities who are on twitter. Generally they are popular and on traditional media which makes them gain followers easier right?

This is Nat Ho and Joanne Peh and each of them has 18k and 28k followers and they are listed around 281 times and 418times. As they are celebrities, they do not even need to tweet a lot to get followers cause they are celebrities.

Even for Ex popular blogger Dawn Yang. She has some decent numbers.

And what about some normal users?

This is Mr. @CTHam, my good friend from twitter who has a very balance number of following and followers. Member since 09, listed 139times for twitting about things like photography, politics and humor.

Let's take a look at some of the accounts which I find it very very questionable.

From the way on how I look at it according to how I analyst what we have before, this person has 46k followers but only listed ONCE. He tweets less than 200 times and attracted 46k Followers. Is he a celebrity? NO.

Member since '11 which means this acct has been around for less than 18months. Listed 8months tweeted 174times and has 174k followers which is even more than XX.

This person twitter 37k times, listed 31times and has 22k followers. Not a celebrity. Not a "popular" blogger but has the same number of followers like a celebrity. Does not even tweet interesting stuff and more like using it as an IM and chat.

Some of the account above looks really questionable but what about this one? 2k followers, 6k tweets, has been around for awhile but I'm not too sure how real this is either as I remember the numbers kinda hike overnight and this account do have some very weird followers.

I guess you guys pretty much get what I am trying to say here. I am not trying to name and shame anyone because I didn't and neither am I encouraging you guys that numbers is important which is why I am paying attention to it but what I am trying to say here is that people who are on this platform long enough can easily identify you if you are real deal or not. There might be a lot of clients who are ignorant and you might be able to get away with it but in a long run are you sure this is what you want?

Moreover, there are many sites who can track your followers gain graph as well. So if you have followers gain consistently of 166 per day OR a sudden jump of 5,000 followers, it is pretty obvious you are doing some magic there.

Remember, enjoy twitter and social media fun, do not get caught in the number game of getting yourself more "popular". You can buy followers but can you buy friends and become really influential overnight?

Mr.Smith, Why make yourself feel good only on twitter? you should really make youself feel good like... go fuck youself already.

Free Sticker Lady

Smithankyou     6/05/2012 05:34:00 PM     current affairs, FreeStickerLady, singapore     2 comments
If you haven't read about it, here is a pretty good summary of what happend to this #FreeStickerLady

Have you seen them around?

I think some of her stickers are really cool and in fact I would even pay for them.

So of course when this kinda issues rises there will be people who will fight for "justice" and fight for "art" and eventually this is what i saw on my facebook timeline.

So is it wrong to catch this artistic "Free Sticker Lady"? Some people mention things like "what is wrong with art?" Some says "Singaporean are too uptight, it's just some stickers." Some says it's double standard and unfair treatment. Some just wanted to make some noise along with everyone else.

But do you want our city to look like some subway in America?

I could still give it to you if you think this is art. But what about the next picture?

In fact we've seen most of this stickers around for a while and I believe no action was taken as it was pretty interesting. In fact do you remember one of our popular MP who did the same thing too? (Side note, I do not know who did it. Do not quote me. I can't remember if it was his supporters or his ideas or some volunteers.)

From http://robinlow.blogspot.sg/2011/05/pap-vandalism.html

So I suppose "they" did close an eye on her and she did get the amount of attention she wanted on social media as well as among art lovers and youngsters.

And what happened next? I would like to make a daring assumption that her ego went higher and the urge of getting more attention just got stronger and before you know it, BAM! This was her next artwork which I believe was the one that totally crossed the line -

From newnation.sg - MY GRANDFATHER ROAD.

Not just is it provoking but it's also in front of one of our ministry and that makes it even more provoking.

So what is this about? On the surface it might look like just an act of vandalism but I find it having too much similarities to terrorism and it gives me the chill. Getting attention, going against authorities, getting more attention and than support.

Is this what it is or did I just read too much into it?

I am a supporter of art and freedom but I can't fully agree what she did was right either. There is a right time and right place for everything and apparently I suppose this ain't one of those "right" situation.

Mr.Smith, Blog until shiok.

I'm sold.

Smithankyou     6/05/2012 09:25:00 AM     Feature, omy, singapore blog awards, sold.sg, sponsored post     1 comment
Remember some time ago I wrote this article about Sell Out Vs Sold Out?

Apparently this article has nothing to do with that.

HAHA.

As some of you should know by now, I was nominated by some of you guys for the Singapore Blog Awards and I managed to squeeze myself into the top 10 finalist of the WTH category.

And the WTH category is actually sponsored by Sold.sg and thus I am being featured on their blog too!

The site Sold.sg is actually an auction site. And I wonder if I can sell myself out on the auction site. :x

Mr.Smith, 10 cent going once? 10 cent going twice? looks like i'm going home alone tonight.

Most Unwanted Players of Diablo 3

 Smithankyou     6/04/2012 04:06:00 PM     diablo3     2 comments
It has been slightly more than 2 weeks since Diablo 3 has dawn upon us and took our soul with him to hell and it's almost always about Diablo we are talking at any social meetup.(That is if you still have the determination to walk out of the house.)

Everyone that you bump into likes to use the term "Wah, You have no life" to describe you if you completed the game quickly(like in 6 hours) or you have reached level 60. (FYI, that is the max level for characters.) but is that true?

In fact I find that Diablo 3 is actually more than just another game but also a good social platform. We meet friends who we don't talk to that often online and play together as well as meeting their friends and meet new friends too. See! Social Platform. That is having life!

See, couple bonding time too!
As much as I enjoy meeting new people off the internet I am sure we meet some people who.. we do not really enjoy their company. I really wish that Blizzard look into it that we can have a "appear offline mode" Anyway let's take a look some of the most unwanted players on Diablo 3.

*Disclaimer: This article is written for the fun of it and not to attack any players directly. Please read it with a pinch of salt.

The Shopaholic

They join your game, make your mobs harder to kill and spent most of their time at the merchant. SERIOUSLY?

The Singaporean

Very kiasu, all they want is to rush the game. Run from one quest to the other, helping you to skip your cut scene when you have never seen it before. Hello Singaporean!! Slow down your pace!

The Love Maker

They just keep coming in, going out, coming in, going out. Why? Going AH to buy and sell at every interval of 5 mins. What is the issue? They keep causing my Templar/Scoundrel/Temptress to join and quit join and quit. GOD!

The mIRC

Yes, I did say we can make friend and get connected but Diablo 3 is a game, I really wanna kill those bastard mobs. Stop chatting with me! I do not want to tell you how my day went.

The "Lagger"

It's okay to lag, it's okay to complain but seriously? Your think is this CS ah? Every death you also want to complain that you are lagging?

The "BRB"

Same reason as the Shopaholic, come into game and "park" himself there and just let the rest of us stone.

The "High Level"

This happens to me more often when I was like level 20-30 where my level 50 friends come into the game and "help" me with my quest. What happened? I have no kill and nothing to do other than just follow and walk the map.

The "Eh, show me your item"

"Eh, I have a good drop leh. You have or not? Link leh Link leh" Seriously? Can we just go on with the game first and stop asking me to link you almost everyone of my rare find?

The General Chatters

Flood me baby one more time! WTS(Want to sell) XXXX. WTB(Want to buy) YYYY. Use the auction house please!

I felt that generally it's a fun game to play as a team but it can still get really frustrating when you have such players online. Then again, it might just be me for my character is not exactly built to play as a team.

I suppose I am volatile, self-centered...

Mr.Smith, Diablo 3 Avengers.

But you didn't have to cut me off 2 - Goyte Skywalker

Smithankyou     5/30/2012 09:33:00 AM     9gag, goyte, meme, somebody that i used to know     3 comments
So I blogged about my latest earworm "Somebody that I used to know."  last Saturday and I was very surprise to see that I actually have quite a bit of clicks coming onto my blog because of that post. So being Captain obvious I think people like it and thus I put in a lil more effort and found a few more.

I'm not too sure if you guys even find it funny or you just like the song but I really think it's funny.

So that's about all that I could find online and after seeing so many of other people's work. I thought I could do something too! And me being the geek my first reference to "cut off" has to be this..

AHHH WA EH CHIU!!!

I'm even surprise nobody did this one already! And yeah, I can't find a really good screen cap of that scene.

Mr.Smith, BUT YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO CUT ME OFF!!! (You could wax if you want.)

Xiaxue : Faces of haters.

Smithankyou     5/28/2012 09:30:00 AM     blogosphere, Xiaxue     No comments
I guess the most read post for the whole of last week and coming week should goes to Xiaxue's faces of haters. If you haven't read that blogpost and you are actually reading my blog; I wanna say thank you very much and then I wanna say please go read that post. It's kind of entertaining and educational too. Why educational? We'll see.

I think Xiaxue totally deserves a meme.
Read count aside and with an article like this, there came two camps of thoughts about how gutsy she is for doing that and fans and even non-fans cheered for her, but of course on the other hand there are people who disagree with what she has done saying that it's pretty much unnecessary and it's an act of cyber bullying. This could be the first time I am on XX's side cause she didn't start the fire. (For once - I guess.)

Let's be objective, I ain't the biggest fan of Lightning Clan but when it comes to politics we should totally be objective about it and NOT doing all the personal attack and saying things base on nothing. This is totally not cool.

My take over for this saga is pretty straightforward but yet I think the message is very impactful here; "Keyboard Warrior: What goes around comes around." You want to play the troll game online and think you can get away with it as easy as fcuking a geylang prostitute? Think again, this is the type when you mess with the wrong people and you get name and shame.

Xiaxue being Xiaxue will name you, shame you, wack you and then hang you out in the public and dry. No, do not get me wrong, I am not saying she is bitchy that way but I am saying she is just that daring when it comes to things like this. Well on the other hand I am very sure Xiaxue knows her price to pay/things to watch out for as for all you know she might be treading the line and may not know who she is offending too. On Singapore Blogosphere she IS the queen but we have corporate world and even the BENGosphere* so basically one just can't win it all.

So kids, the next time you think you can simply write something on other people's facebook and think that you can get away, think again.

On a lighter note: CONGRATS GUYS! YOU GUYS ARE (IN)FAMOUS! I didn't even managed to get featured by our queen despite the number of years I've been blogging. You guys got a break through and now all you have to do is be shameless and start a blog!

Mr.Smith, you might be behind a monitor(or phone) while talking online, you can hide but not for long.

*BENGosphere is like blogosphere but for ah beng lah. AKA "The Underworld". (No, not the Aaron tan only love you deep d3ep.)

We will hunt you and rape you. Then kill you. You've been warn.
