Have you seen them around? |
I think some of her stickers are really cool and in fact I would even pay for them.
So of course when this kinda issues rises there will be people who will fight for "justice" and fight for "art" and eventually this is what i saw on my facebook timeline.
So is it wrong to catch this artistic "Free Sticker Lady"? Some people mention things like "what is wrong with art?" Some says "Singaporean are too uptight, it's just some stickers." Some says it's double standard and unfair treatment. Some just wanted to make some noise along with everyone else.
But do you want our city to look like some subway in America?
I could still give it to you if you think this is art. But what about the next picture?
In fact we've seen most of this stickers around for a while and I believe no action was taken as it was pretty interesting. In fact do you remember one of our popular MP who did the same thing too? (Side note, I do not know who did it. Do not quote me. I can't remember if it was his supporters or his ideas or some volunteers.)

So I suppose "they" did close an eye on her and she did get the amount of attention she wanted on social media as well as among art lovers and youngsters.
And what happened next? I would like to make a daring assumption that her ego went higher and the urge of getting more attention just got stronger and before you know it, BAM! This was her next artwork which I believe was the one that totally crossed the line -

Not just is it provoking but it's also in front of one of our ministry and that makes it even more provoking.
So what is this about? On the surface it might look like just an act of vandalism but I find it having too much similarities to terrorism and it gives me the chill. Getting attention, going against authorities, getting more attention and than support.
Is this what it is or did I just read too much into it?
I am a supporter of art and freedom but I can't fully agree what she did was right either. There is a right time and right place for everything and apparently I suppose this ain't one of those "right" situation.
