My Favourite Online Shopping Site

Smithankyou     5/13/2015 12:55:00 PM     carousell, CherryAffairs, lazada, online shopping, playstation, shopback, shopping, taobao sea     12 comments
So I was discussing with some friends about going overseas and what kinda trips is your dream trip. If you asked me this question few years back I would probably tell you I love shopping trips over site seeing or beach holidays. Not exactly because I got into this beach life style but it is simply because shopping online has became so easy and you can almost get and everything online while at the comfort of your underwear!

Shopping in underwear can be a lot less weird if you are doing it at home and in front of your computer actually.  (pictures from google search)
Before you all think this post is a sponsored post by multiple brands I am telling you it is not. Although some of these sites were my sponsors once but I am still spending money with them! #OnlineShopaholic. And also because it is very busy to be a superhero, fighting crime and protecting you all. So I don't really have time to go to the shops and buy things myself.

THE COUNT DOWN BEGINS!

5. LAZADA.SG

Although it has been awhile since I bought something from Lazada but I must say they are the go-to place if you are looking for any gadget, watches or home appliances kinda product. Not only do are the items prices reasonable but their service is great. Their shipping speed and the condition of the items reaching me is perfect.

4. CherryAffairs.com

Because sex toys.

3. Playstation Network Store - PSN

Because you're just jealous of our boobs. PS4
Because Playstation is the coolest console ever. There's really a lot of fun games you can download for you PS3/PS4. Especially the classic games that you can no longer find in stores. And best of all your wife can't keep track of how many games you have gotten this month. :D

2. Carousell

I know there are a lot of jokes and negative feedback and even a site dedicated to trolls but carousell is really your solution to anything 2nd hand. Ever since carousell, I hardly go to forums to look for 2nd toys or stuff anymore. Carousell is really a good place to look for anything which is off season and hard to find at retail anymore. Best part is it is really easy to use on the smart phone. Who would have though a simple app started by some student can come so far!

1. SEA.TAOBAO.com

Can't get a nice screen grab. This looks like I'm saying "HEYYYY"
No money for getting this correct. They are my "favoritest" client back then and I must say they really change my way of shopping. I will "taobao" to check the price or if I can get it off taobao before buying things from anywhere else. I saw a deck of poker card the other day that was selling at $19.90 in retail and it was $2 on Taobao before shipping and only around $3 after shipping. Tell me why shouldn't Taobao be number 1 on my list? And also because of Taobao, shopping at Bangkok, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan got a lot more boring.

Honorable Mention: Hipvan

They sell really cool and quirky stuff to be honest. Some of their things are like life hacks and really hipster like and make you feel way more unique than your friends but the reason why this ain't one of my shopping site is because they things can be pretty pricey. I guess this works for you if you are rich!

Shop and Save

Not the popular super market. I was introduced to this new service known as Shopback. I haven't try it myself but it looks pretty interesting. Basically it is like a credit card cash back function but specifically for online shopping site where you get certain cashback and they also earn a card for helping their clients (shopping site) to promote shopping on their site. I thought it is a pretty cool site. Maybe I would try it on my next purchase or you guys can let me know when you guys try it.

Quick Poll

P.S. Anyway in case you find this shopping post boring because you don't like to shop online, here is a MTV For you - Thrift shop by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

Top 10 Watches on my Watchlist

Smithankyou     9/26/2014 11:13:00 AM     Bering, casio, DW, FILA, FOSSIL, G-Shock, Lucien Piccard, online shopping, Seiko, shopping, watches     1 comment
A man once told me that a watch to a man is like his social status. The more expensive your watch is, the richer and more powerful one is. I guess that is why some people spent thousands of dollars one watches.

To some, a watch is a basic necessity for telling time before mobile phones came along but to me watch is a fashion accessory. I know I sound too vain and a himbo but matching the right watch with the right outfit of the day is very important. There was a few occasions that I actually wore a watch that has stopped simply because it matches my outfit.

Anyway below are the top 10 watches on my “watchlist”. (Sorry for the bad pun)

The Sporty

Casio G-ShockGD-100SC-6 Purple

Being a sports fan as well as a lakers fan, I have so many purple outfit and this fits me to the T.  This will fit very well for any casual sports wear or T-shirt day.

Casio G-Shock GA-100A-7White

The white G-Shock goes always with anything causal. A timeless classic and in fact do you know collecting G-Shocks is actually a very big hobby and people actually queue for hours for their limited additions?

Casio G-Shock GD-100GB-1 Black

Something to the safer side when matching and also easier to maintain. A black watch but yet at the same time with a touch of gold. Gold is always my kinda thing. Flashy. These are only 3 out of thousands of casio watches I have picked out. Casio watches is really one of those brand that has accompanied me since I was a kid! Reasonable price, easy to wear and durable! Check out the rest here: casio watches singapore

The Smart

Seiko SNN258P1 Gold & Black

My wife calls me an uncle for falling in love with gold accessories these days but I think it is very manly but undeniable it does makes me look a little more mature but the black face does give it a little more edgy as well. This goes very well if you are in black shirt.

FILA 38-001-003 watch

So gold is a little too much for you? I bet you couldn’t tell this watch belongs to sports brand FILA if not for the word. A mental watch like this best works for young PMEBs who wants to look formal but at the same time trying to sell the message that “hey, I’m young and not an uncle okay!”

Bering Watch Chronograph 33341-742

What about a timeless classic chrome watch if you are not keen in neither of the gold or black. It might a little pricy as compared to the rest but rest assure this will be one of those can stays with you for a long long time.

The Smart Casual

FOSSIL AM4479

If there is one dress code that I really hate it would be ‘smart casual’. I mean like if you want me to be either smart or casual, it’s almost impossible to come in between. Not for watches, I think watches like this give me a very good feel of what is smart casual. Put on a oversize shirt, berms, loafers and this is the watch for you.

Dw Classic Cambridge RoseGold

A very simple and clean looking watch. It’s one of those days that you just want to relax, lay back, smoke a cigar and slip the red wine. This one. One of those that I really like and might also be a hipster favourite. haha.

The Hipster

Lucien Piccard Muzzano Black Genuine LeatherStrap Black Textured Dial Rose-Tone Hands Watch

I’m no fan of leather watches no thanks to my sweaty my wrist. No, I have no idea what is sweaty wrist but I do sweat a lot and it almost spoilt the leather watches band and it makes me sad. This LP watch is so pretty, it actually goes quite well if you are a hipster and like to look all diva and sleek. Mental is a little too formal, rubber is a little too sporty, good with leather if you want that hipster look.

Seiko SNK795K1 Watch

I like how classic this watch looks like. It looks like one of those in a war show that the guy will give to the lady before he leaves his home to defend his country. Nothing more hipster than an old watch with a love story no? *tears in eyes.

------------------------------------
Online shopping these days is pretty convenient! And the good news is that I actually found all these ten watches and more on just 1 site. The even good-er (better) news is that they are actually cheaper than most retails store I visited and saw these watches!

Check out online shopping site – lazada.sg! It is Southeast Asia’s Largest online shopping mall. It offers a variety of products ranging from fashion and beauty to electronics. Don’t say I bo jio! Stay tuned to latest offers by subscribing to Lazada Facebook Page or Lazada Google Plus.

Mr.Smith, WATCH IT!

Shopping at Clementi Mall Part II - Box Boss

Smithankyou     8/08/2014 07:20:00 AM     Box Boss, Clementi, clementi mall, shopping, singapore shopping, sponsored post     2 comments
With the help of social media and it's power of instant gratification, everyone online seems to be someone cool but is it really true?
Sure bo?
Below are a list of titles and what they really mean:

Social Media Strategist - uses Twitter and Facebook for selfies

Model - Shot by Instagrammer

Photographer/ Photo journalist - Someone who uses Instagram

Actor - Featured on Instagram 15 seconds video

Director - Shoot that same 15 seconds video

Producer - The guy who uploads that 15 seconds video

Celebrity Blogger - Has a blog and possibly someone is reading

Online Journalist / Editor of thisisfunnyawesome.com - Has a blog that no one reads

Founder of ShuiCharborDress.com - Has a blog that sells cheap clothes from Thailand

Entrepreneur - somebody that doesn't have a real job

Boss - Somebody cool. #LikeABoss

Instead of hiding behind these fake titles why not make it real? At Clementi mall you can! Renting a push cart or a whole unit might be too expensive for you but you can always consider Box Boss!

At Box Boss, everyone is a boss!!
How It Works?

Stolen from their Facebook Page
So basically you can sell anything you want as long as it fits into the box. Sad to say we can't put in things like mother-in-laws or something along the line. haha.

Variety

To be honest, Box Boss is one of those shop that attracts my attention every time I step into a mall. The things they are selling is always changing, wide range of variety and great prices. You can always expect to see things that are hardly sold at other retail outlets. It is the best place to shop for someone with very low attention span like me.

They will even help you promote it on their Facebook page!

Obviously I didn't buy any earrings! I got this!

This bumble bee is actually a torch light! You can't even find this is other major toy shops in Singapore. See! There's always a surprise for everyone at box boss! Best thing is this is only $5!!

Clementi Mall

Besides Zepy Games which I've talked about as well as Box Boss, you can always check out the other shops within Clementi mall!

Like some my of favourite FnB - Soup Restaurant, Tori Q, Starbucks, Thai Express and many more!

If you are not convinced, also check out one of my favourite Blog - Noob Lao Bei. He also blogged about it too! Part I, Part II.

So don't forget to check out Clementi Mall soon!

Shopping at Clementi Mall Part 1 - Zepy Games

Smithankyou     8/04/2014 09:30:00 AM     clementi mall, Games, omy, ps4, shopping, Singapore games, singapore shopping, sponsored post, zepy games     1 comment
"I don't think you will want to join us ladies for shopping because it's going to be a long day and I'm not too sure if you can take it." That was what my colleague told me a few years back when we had our 1st company outing at Hong Kong and they had to bite their own words in a few hours time. DESRITE! I am the legendary shopping king that even woman can't beat!

I can shop from daily necessities, fashion, toys, gadget and even to "useless" novelty accessories. And today, Shopping King is going to share with you an exciting place to shop - Clementi Mall!

It's really accessible because it's located actually right beside the MRT station!
Usually when I stepped into a shopping mall, there will be a few main things that I will look out for.

The whole layout - I really hate shopping malls that has very bad layout meaning you kept walking into dead ends, a good shopping mall should be able to let you walk continuously and roam around easily. Clementi does not have that problem and in fact it is really easy to navigate around!

The walking space/fire safety - This is probably one of the things that very few will feel the same way. I hate it when shopping malls try too hard to earn every single spot of retail spot by having too many push carts. I always wonder if they even pass their fire safety inspection with that pathetic amount of spaces left.

Tenant Mix - Of course, this has to be one of the most important point about a good shopping mall. I really like how Clementi mall has a wide variety of shops that I can shop at!

Zepy Games -  #04-11/12 TEL: 66590163

There are a few main shop types that I really like and one of them gonna be a Game Shop!

Zepy Games at Clementi Mall
Zepy games not only have a wide range of games but their prices are also very competitive! And they even have membership promotions as well as a loyalty program that rewards returning customers!

My favorite section has to be the Pre Owned game. The same game at a more resonable price but same amount of fun! Oh, you can also sell away those games that you have completed too!

That's not all! They also sell games related products like toys, collectables and even trading card games! That was actually how I spent my teenage years!

WAH! Got pretty girl playing game at the shop! So I guess this demo set idea is a good idea after all right?? YEAH!!

Revealing frontal of the picture.....

EH! Chey, that's just my silly wife! But if you really want to see a pretty girl who knows her gaming stuff, do remember to check out Zepy games because the sales girl at Zepy Games Clementi Mall is not just friendly and helpful but she knows her stuff too! (NPGT - You all have to check it out yourself mah!)

And guess that? One does not simply enters a game shop and exit it empty handed.

Argentina might not have won the world cup but there is a winner in this picture!
MY HOOT! *Update as requested by readers: PS4  $619 basic. $75 - extra controller with purchase (not in picture). Killzone (Pre-owned) $35, UFC $71.90 ish (Can't remember :p ). *

YES! The long awaited PS4!
For those who are interested to find out more about my adventure at Clementi Mall, do stayed tuned for Part 2!

And meanwhile, do check out their Facebook page, as well as Zepy Games Facebook Page!

My Pre-Wedding shoot at NTUC Fairprice

Smithankyou     6/02/2014 03:57:00 PM     news, ntuc fairprice, shopping, singapore, Troll, wedding, Wedding shoot     29 comments
I've done a good number of crazy things in my life. Like for example, bringing this crazy big Lotso bear around Singapore and getting stomp, dressing like a crazy beer woman and even doing crazy videos teaching people how to pick up girls but nothing this crazy had happened before.

Getting onto the headlines and front covers of Local News paper. (Probably a slow news day but still..)

新明日报 on 31st May
So of course, when something goes that mainstream there will be a lot of questions and trashing online. I've also consolidated a long list of online sources at the end of this article. Although this article has gotten quite a bit of attention, (to be honest way way way more attention than I could imagine) it doesn't explain or say the full story.

Below is my full story.

Why NTUC?

So many people have comment that it's low class, it's crazy and it's not creative. Why NTUC? To be honest, we weren't looking to be on the news nor break the chart of being creative when it comes to photo shoot. Our photoshoot's theme is life story. We want something which is close to heart, something that we can relate even after 10-20 years, something we will enjoy and we know that standing in the middle of grass patches, at the beach or going to Taiwan and stand in front of a stone that certain idol has did it before really ain't our thing. Every couple need to choose "their thing" and this is simply ours. Something that we can go "awww" when we show our (hypothetical) kids in the future.

There are many super market in Singapore, in fact there is a giants right below my place but we are looking for something which is nice, neat, proper and we can relate. We spend a lot of time at Tampines Mall NTUC as well as the branch Tampines Central Community Club but these branches were logistically too troublesome and too crowded. As NTUC did this favour of allowing us to do a shoot, disrupting their operation is the last thing we want to do. And the City Square Mall branch is very neat, pretty and near my office. Which is the branch that i actually visit pretty often these days.

For Trolls who suggested places like Jason's to look atas, my note to you is, if there is where you find your story go ahead but I don't see a need to be all pretentious and look high class and NTUC ain't all that bad.

Bottom-line for us: Something fun and memorable for us, NOT about being creative or attracting attention.(At least not this time.)

联合晚报 front page on 31st May
Did you pay NTUC?

Nope, NTUC was very nice and all couples who wants to do this shoot can get it for free as long as you apply for rights.

Did NTUC pay you? Sponsor you? Give you a lot of products or vouchers?

I also wish I could tell you they did but the fact is no, they did not. They already allow us to use the venue and what makes you guys think I should ask for products or money?

Sunday Times.
Did you apply or just go in and shoot?

For the concern citizen, yes, all you have to do is to write in and get help and approval. Although I did not go through the conventional way.

How come so many other couples do before but you got featured all over?

This is the part where I did it a little different. I tried to look on the web for NTUC's contact but I couldn't find it and it hit me that I've a friend who works in the PR agency for NTUC and I approached them to help and on top of getting the approval, the PR company thought there is a interesting story to it and did their work and the rest were history.

联合晚报 on 31st May
Is it because you Brogger so they cover you?

To be honest, I have no idea but I will place my money on - no. Because besides STOMP! who credit me as a blogger, the rest just mention me as a social media manager. My blog site didn't even get a single mention.

Your picture very tasteless lor, drunk, no "effect", no strobe and all.

Like I mentioned, we wanted something very much close to heart. The picture that ST choose to published is something very very real. I party with my friends occasionally and I can get out of hand and my wife is never too happy about it. And that picture has the photographer in it which obviously means that it is a picture taken by the journalist and not my wedding photographer, so what effect are we talking about? And did the picture show you a 360 view? You can see what's on the other side right? So why be so smart and judge so fast?

For the concerned citizen who are worried that my picture turns out badly, this is a preview which is not even edited and low res. I say it looks pretty damn good.
Trolls

I just wish to clarify, I am totally cool with trolls. I mean, I am one of the biggest trolls online. I speak my thoughts but the main point is think before you troll. If you wish to comment such things like going to other places to be creative, I mean go ahead, no one is stopping you but those are not spot that are meaningful to me. My other 3 venues are actually our school, the basketball court (because I love basketball) and last but not least our very own love nest - our HDB. I am not doing this to clarify anything, I just wish that trolls online learn their lesson, if you want to troll, do it right and do it good. Like this one. (When I say "this one" I mean the guy name Smith Leong.)

Don't self pwn and insult all the trolls online.

You know how people always complain that online is a very trashy places especially forums like EDMW but if you read through the comments the EDMWers are actually saying something better instead of being jealous, narrow minded and spiting venoms. As much as I wish to answer all the trolls and haters, I think I really have no time for it and also because I believe in the power of self moderation. When there is black there will be white, when there is light, there is shadow. When we have trolls, we have people who will stand up and speak up.

Thanks You

Once again, I would like to thanks everyone for all the best wishes, tags, shout out and strangers who stood up for my shoot even when I do not know you at all.

Final Note

I think my friend put it pretty nicely for this Saga. Either way, there will be someone to say something but I just hope the online trolls are better that what I'm seeing now. Their arguments are kinda weak.

"Yah I read about this girl saying Wah so low budget so no class. If you splurge 40k on the photoshoot ppl say you never donate to charities instead. Singaporeans so hard to please"

Cool Finds in Singapore's Streets & Stores

Smithankyou     3/27/2014 12:00:00 PM     cool finds, interesting shops in Singapore, shopping, singapore     1 comment
Singapore is known for the interesting and amusing products and crazy people like me that are found within the markets, websites, and malls - everything from crazy tattoos and funky appliances to outlandish gadgets and tech paraphernalia. Singapore just seems to have it all… and then some! The following seven finds provide a snapshot of the really cool stuff in Singapore’s stores and streets.

A ‘Slice of Bread’:

But is it really? This decorative slice of ‘bread’ comes in a package, marketed by a company called Breadou specializing in Singapore brands and unique merchandise, and retails for a meagre SGD S$4.90. No, it’s not edible… use it as a hand pillow or a note pad, but don’t try to put this rubber dough in your mouth even though it smells and looks like the real thing.  If that’s not enough, a bread loaf shaped like a tortoise is sure to get some attention, or a ‘bready’ keychain and petit ‘macaroon’ may be a better suited to your tastes!

uVenus Color Changer Ambient Purifier:

This ultra-modern white, blue, and violet air purifier looks like something strait out of a Jetsons cartoon. Redeemable for 104,800 AMEX membership award points, it’s difficult to imagine any contemporary home being complete without it. You’ll feel just like you live in the future… well, the future according to 80s movies. (Available here: https://www.americanexpress.com/sg/)

Little Big Sound Speakers:

These tiny speakers not only look appealing, they sound terrific. Retailing in Singapore for SGD S$29.90, they are a must have. The package measures 9x9 cubic centimetres; they come with a one year warranty and a practical keychain that attaches the speakers to your gear.

T-bits for the Bunnies:

Along with the un-bread, there are T-bits for the bunnies! This basic product will keep your cords untangled, but also benefits the rabbits. In fact every bit provides meals for our fuzzy critters. Every sale provides a unique donation to the House Rabbit Society Singapore helping to save these fluffy-tailed friends.

Custom 3D Kimono People:

We found some totally unique kimono figurines with Japan Hut themes: everything from Custom 3D Kimono Couples (making sweet and lovely propositions), traditional attire, dapper male figures, and professional office-attired young women! Order one and create your own little ‘mini-me’.

Toaster and Egg Poacher:

Prepare your toast and egg in one fell swoop with this totally original egg-toaster. Its sleek black and silver design will add a contemporary touch to any kitchen, while you prepare breakfast with a flick of a switch. It never occurred to you that you need to make your toast and eggs at the exact same time and using the same machine? Well, welcome to the 21st century, when there’s a product for everything you never thought you needed.

Airbrush Tattoos:

Airbrushed tattoos are the ideal alternative to a permanent etching; with several benefits. They are hygienically clean, realistic, painless, and attractive. Easy to apply, they’re great for parties, shows, school events, and children. Plus, they look real… well, for 2 weeks anyway.

Singapore is the perfect stop for funny and unusual products -  just browse through the streets, malls, shops, and e-stores and you’ll find amusement everywhere you look.
