Buying pet food online with Kohepets

Smithankyou     5/18/2018 01:39:00 PM     brover, kohepets, marshall, online shopping, pets, sponsored post, Ted     3 comments

Brover . Marshall . Ted

One of the most frequently asked questions that I get from people visiting my house is how my dog and cats can actually live in harmony. I wouldn't exactly say it's in harmony since Brover bullies Ted quite a bit while Marshall avoids Brover at all costs. Ted and Marshall have a longest running love-hate relationship where they hug and sleep together for a moment and fight in the next.

Truth is it's not that hard. It's probably a myth that dogs will always hate cats. That being said,  that might be some truth to it because of differences in living habits and playing style but one thing that brings them all together has to be food.

It's not easy to handle these 3 little ones especially after having little Seth. Lucky for us we have my helper who will give us a hand in everything and of course Kohepets!

Kohepets is an online pet supplies store that specialises in premium pet brands, such as Addiction, Wellness, Merrick and K9 Natural. They have one of the widest product ranges available online. With over 6,000 products, I'm sure you can find anything you like and best part? SENT TO YOUR DOORSTEP! They even offer free shipping if your purchase is over $60 which is very easily achievable if you are getting big packs of food for your furkids.

They even have a section where you can get free sample before buying so you will know if your pets really like the product before buying!

And if you a new pet owners you can also find loads of tips on their blog too!

Anyway, enough of me talking. Go check them out!

Shooting my pets - Ted, Marshall and Brover.

Smithankyou     8/03/2014 09:49:00 PM     brover, cats, diary, dogs, marshall, pets, pets photoshoot, pictures, random, Ted     24 comments
I would have said that photography is one of my hobbies many moons ago if people were to ask me about my hobbies but it didn't happen because DSLR got so popular and everyone became a "photographer", camera got too expensive to buy, too big to bring out all the time and too technical for my non-technical mind.

Then again, thank God for Instagram and I could live my hobby again for snapping nonsense.

I've never had a decent camera until a few hours ago when I get a second hand camera off Claudia, my same birth date friend and also my Kampong Punggol kaki.

What else should I start shooting other than my pets!

I hope I can be hard working and keep using the camera and not become another white Elephant.

And if you are also lazy like me but still want your pets' nice pictures taken, check out Furry Photos!

"Save Our Street Dogs" Flag Day 2013!

Smithankyou     11/06/2013 09:57:00 AM     charity, do good, dogs, helplah, pets, singapore, sosd     No comments
You guys know my silly dog Brover?

Some call him a mix-breed, some call him a mongrel and some prefer to call him the Singapore Special.

There are some things about the mongrel that I really like. They look tough and they are always happy and active. In fact, from what I understand is that they are indeed tougher in terms of health wise. They are easier to maintain as a pet as well. But sad to say not every Singaporean thinks so.

Many individual still look at them as "stray dogs", "cheap dogs" or unwanted dogs. Just because they are not pedigree they are being look down as a lower life form?

If you are a real dog/animal lover, you have to believe that every animal is equal. (Fine, before you guys come and bite me and complain about how I am eating cow, pigs, chicken cause they are animals too. I say I love them too. Just differently. #SelfTrollFirst.)

Anyway, my wife and I are believer of adoption cause we know and we have seen how breeder take cares of those breeding dogs. Their living condition and the amount of lives they have sacrificed just to bring you one cute little puppy.  So where did we get Brover from? Brover was actually rescued by a guy name Clifford and Brover's "ownership" was actually under this organization call the "Save our street dogs" aka SOSD.

As much as we wished to be a volunteer to be at the shelter to help out and what not, we do have too much on our plate to commit. Thus, I am helping out in alternate ways! (Like getting you guys to do it. :D )

You can do your part too!

From SOSD Facebook:

SOSD Flag Day is our largest event to date. Through it, we hope to raise awareness for our street dogs, as well as raise a a total of $150,000 so that we can progress towards our vision of builing a shelter, and caring for our street dogs.

Our real time online counter is ticking. From 10 Nov 12mn, you can visit our online donation page to donate towards Flag Day. Meanwhile, you can visit it to get notified when donations are open!:
http://geofundit.com/sosd/

Activities at the roadshow include:
» a mini-adoption drive (11am to 5.30pm)
» sale of pet merchandise
» photo-taking sessions with the dogs

From what I heard, there will be a little "dog parade" along Orchard road too!

For those who likes to find out more, check out their Facebook Event!

Mr.Smith, You have saved our lives. We are eternally grateful.

Justice For Tammy The Dog.

Smithankyou     10/18/2013 05:29:00 PM     animal abuse, brover, current affairs, dogs, marshall, news, pets, singapore, Tammy, Ted     6 comments
I have no idea how I actually missed the news. I guess I was on course and work has been busy. In fact i felt like I totally felt off the surface of the (social media) world for awhile. Considering the fact that my last blog post was so long ago!

Enough of digression.

"Dog Murderer" and poor victim Tammy.

Image from The Real Singapore.
In case you are as slow as I am, this is how the story goes in short:

1. Woman adopt dog.
2. Woman claims that dog shows aggression and wish to return to foster
3. Woman did not return but instead when to the vet to put it down.
4. Vet put the dog down.
5. Foster went to look for the dog and can't and and found out this traumatizing story.

For full story: TRS

Because of this incident, the Facebook page of The Animal Clinic, a page with 700 fans have a talk about rating (PTAT) of 1,100. The power of Social Media especially when it comes to a mistake, moreover a mistake that involves a life.

1. So let's take a step back on what actually happened here. According to the foster the dog has show no aggression previously. We have no idea how the family was treating Tammy. From a dog owner perspective, there's a lot of times that it's us human making the mistake in pissing them off instead of the animal making the mistake. Just look at dog whisper (the tv show), it's more often the human getting the training than the dog.

2. The foster already mentioned that she is going to take Tammy back so why is there a hurry to put a life down? Did the dog attack anyone with that short timing? Or is it a one sided story to victimize this adopter?

3. Why did the vet put the dog down if her comment was that the dog is actually in the pink of health? I will never doubt an integrity of a vet frankly. From my understanding that there are many doctors who are doctors because their parents made them one or for other reasons but as far as I know, every vet I've met is a pet lover. So is it really more than meets the eye?

4. Why ain't the TAC or this lady speaking up if this is really a "one sided story" of the foster? I am not defending TAC or the vet but neither do I want to jump onto the band wagon and just point finger at TAC. Not that I think Tammy deserves it, I am an animal lover and I think it's pitiful that Tammy is put down this way but I still prefer to look at the "Full Story".

All these being said, it is really hard to find out the "truth" so I hope we don't jump into any conclusion here but there is something which I felt is very badly managed here: TAC's Facebook page.

Maybe killing a dog will not affect your business, maybe killing a dog ain't a crime for say but frankly "threatening" the fans ain't going to help the situation. I seriously don't see the point of putting such a message on your Facebook about taking appropriate action in the event of any defamatory statement. If you wish to address this issue than share your side of the story and not put up a message in this way. In case you guys are wondering, my vet is from TAC as well but a different branch.

You didn't ask me but...

I have a dog, a Cross pinscher also known as a mongrel or better known as Brover!

I adopted this silly boy last December at an estimated age of 2 and a half. I was attracted by him because he looks like one of those big dogs that I really like but ain't HDB approved and the good news is that he is small. In fact he is as small as my cats.

We almost didn't bring him back because the lady at the foster says that he is bad with cats and will kill my cats. Against all odds we decide to adopt him because he was very loyal, he always follow the foster around at the boarding area.

We visited him for close to 3 months at the home before bringing him home while waiting for the renovation of my new place. We visited him to build the trust.

At the beginning, he didn't like the cats and the cats didn't like him either but we took our time to let them get use to each other, 1 day at a time. It's not all fairy tale and this did not happened overnight, in fact it took us almost a year before you can see them nicely on a single frame.

It ain't all smooth sailing to have Brover at home. Unfortunately for my wife, Brover is very attached to me and sees me as his alpha. He is so protective that he would attack my wife in scenario when he thought my wife was going to attack me. In fact he attacked my wife in a few situations when he wasn't very comfortable with my wife touching him and the wounds was pretty bad I would say. I even had the idea of giving him up but the thought that he would be heart broken and have to go back to a foster or some other family to start a new breaks my heart. The thought that this cute little boy going through all these changes and getting used to something new again stopped me. And I know I will miss him.

I wouldn't say he is all nice now but i would say we have learned how to handle him. For example not touching him in quick motion, warning stranger only to touch him when he ask for it and shows comfort and such. I think when it comes to pet, patience is very important and knowing how to handle him is really an art. I am glad I still have him by me.

JUSTICE FOR TAMMY

In any case, I think Tammy's death is really sad. It is a good wake up call and message to all dog lovers out there. Dogs are cute and fluffy but it is also a commitment as well as responsibility, as soon as you have committed to it you have to stick through it. It's unfortunate to Tammy and I wish we can have justice for her.

Not sure about the source but it is being circulated around the web.
Mr.Smith, RIP Tammy.. :'(

First of all, happy birthday to Sex(y) blogger Holly Jean!

Okay, I stole her picture from instagram. :D
