Love is in the air.

Smithankyou     10/29/2015 08:00:00 AM     chai, diary, eun, eunice tan, jacky, love, melpig, wedding     2 comments
When you are in your 30s, there are some events that happens so often you have no idea how to be excited about it anymore. If you are wondering, yes, I am talking about events such as weddings, baby shower, baby's birthday etc etc kinda awkward social event where people gather too often enough to "show face".

As you should have gathered by now that I am not a big fan of such events considering how differently I did mine and also how small scale it was. I really hate it when people attend because they "had to" or they attend and give off negative vibe.

Me doing the whole stand up comedy thing when it was actually a speech.
That being said, October 2015 is a very special month. Not only did I attended a wedding happily, I attended 3 weddings happily. And when I said happy I really meant HAPPY HAPPY. Because these are some friends that I could never imagined them settling down. :X

Wedding No.1 - Jacky + Aggie

Jacky was a very special friend. A friend that I would love to keep close to my heart for many more years to come. I met him when I was a teenager from school. We spent a lot of time doing nothing and you know what they say about relationships that can just enjoy each other's company and do nothing. He was the guy who started my drinking "career". He would always put us before him back in the days. He would want to expose us to the world out there. Although we haven't been spending that much time together these days or have much similar goals or interest in life, he is one of those guys that I would always say, if not for him, there wouldn't be the Smith you see today.

He spent most of his post puberty life trying to find love. If there's a song I will pair him to his love life before his wife would probably be "find love in a hopeless place." I am very happy he found his wife. Although we might not be very close friends but I would say that his wife made him a much better person. And that is how relationship should be, making each other a better person. Not about changing each other, about influencing each other positively, about each other willingly adapting to each others life.

Wedding No.2 - Melpig + Huat

我們倆一起打著一支小雨傘

Where do I even start when it comes to this woman? She is one of those friends that enjoys a "love hate relationship" with me. No, we are not frenemies but more like those that enjoys bickering. Not too sure how she enjoys to be honest that but I sure enjoys disturbing her. haha

We met few years ago on Twitter and our friendship escalated on one of those night where I didn't have much to do and we started talking on Facebook and I got to know her better. Because of her, I was part of one of the world's largest service organization - Lions Club. I can't say enough how much I've seen and learn before of this opportunity given. She treated me like a lil brother (not so lil in terms of size), and her family treated me like one of them. She is never shy about how she feel about things or about me. We have been through lots of argument and happy moments together as well and I know she is the one person that will always help me as long as she can, even when she couldn't she will make sure she get me some help.

I am no love guru but the type of love that Mel and Huat has is very different. There's no fluff, no romantic "I love you" bs but I can tell that they have found a soulmate in each other. Love is not always rainbow, unicorns and pot of gold and this two knows it. They have each other in good times and bad and that's when you know they will always be there for each other. Mel is a fierce woman (gonna hide myself after this line) and Huat is the fiercer man that can keep her in place but yet at the same time you know huat shows his love and care in a very different manner. In a very traditional manly manner that is rare in man (or rather boys) these days.

Hidden behind her screams and table slamming skill, Mel is yet another 小女人 with her new hubby - Mr. Turbo Huat.

Wedding 3 - Sng Tan Kuai Le

And I did not even remember taking this picture that night

Do you remember when was the last time you got so drunk that you have no clue how you went home? I remember mine. It was just a few weeks ago during this crazy party. We had so much to drink and I even fell on the ground while going home and injured my chin, my face and my hand. That was how drunk I was! Eun Tan + YH Sng and together they are Sng Tan Kuai Le.

It was seriously one of the best wedding ever. No march in, no silly table photo takings and just many good looking people having a good time over food and booze. I was very proud to be the emcee for that night because this woman is one of those that I care a lot for. I always believe she deserves a good man and I am very glad she found a good man like YH. YH is quirky and funny in his own way. They call each other "bro" and they ain't even facebook friends. What a cute couple right? I really respect his "come what may attitude" which was demonstrated on his wedding day when the wedding car broke down. There was no argument, angst nor panic. He just took it as it is and he sees it as a positive lesson from the universe teaching them to do and solve things together as a couple. #SweetMax

I met eunice some moons ago at an event and I did not like her at all. I find that she "act one atas" and very dao but universe has his own way of working things out. We became colleagues and when you have common enemies you guys become tight very easily and when you are in an agency, life is like a battle field (everyday). We fought (together and each other), we had disagreement, I had to deal with her PMS emotions, she had to deal with my bad attitude and I almost died once in her car after a meeting where she was very affected (Yes, we been through life and death situation.  ) but we also shared many late nights together(working lah), laughing, gossiping and also partying. (few occasions only actually) We were so close we were known as the office spouse but all good things come to an end when she divorce me left the company for a greener pasture.

And we also have this very famous non-singing singing duet.

Marriage and Weddings

For someone who ain't into weddings or marriage, I sure did enjoyed myself a lot this October sending my friends off singlehood and into married life. "Welcome to Hell" I say. :x

Getting married is just the 1st step and I've seen 3 very different couple getting married within 1 month and I will say every couple has their own set of problems and happiness and it is not up to anyone of us to dictate what is right or wrong or compare who is a better couple. Every couple has their own way of making things work. Some choose to work as a team together while others work with one being the driver and the other taking a step back.

We all seek different things in life, to my friends who are seeking a happy ending in terms of marriage I hope you find your one and to those who prefers to stay single, may you have all the single fun on behalf of all the married.

Anyway, signing off with one of my favorite quote from a chick flick about relationship (duh).

Smithankyou     6/18/2015 03:22:00 PM     bangkok, bkk, diary, melpig, thailand, travel     No comments
Despite the fact that I am working at a tour agency, writing tour blog post ain't exactly something I do best of enjoy. I hate reading travel log like tell you what I do day 1 to day 4. I mean I get bored writing it less say you reading it.

My travel companion - the wife, @melpig and also #TBKK. Thanks for showing us around!
I am not exactly very good at street photography to show the country with nice pictures. And those places I have visited ain't exactly something I can share in terms of "5 best shopping malls in Bangkok" type of articles so I guess for easy reading I will share information in terms of numbers. Because people like to ask me like "how much is this" and that kinda questions and I am very bad with such details. So I better write it down before I forget.

To be honest, BKK ain't exactly my favorite country to go because Taobao ruined it. Everything I might like or wish to buy can be found on Taobao but lucky for me I had fun travel companion to make it fun and also all the good food that cannot be found on taobao.

So, do you like traveling to BKK for your holidays?

#ShareACoke - PERSONALISED A CAN OF COKE

Smithankyou     4/27/2015 03:57:00 PM     cocacola, coke, kisiao, melpig, Personalised can of coke, ShareACoke, ShareACoke Singapore     No comments
If you haven't noticed, very interesting Coke cans have been out and around on the market and all your favourite Kopitiam. Look at these nice ones that are available!

And then I thought to myself, wouldn't it be nice to have my own name on it! And then BAM! It happened. My "ki siao" friend messaged me about it and after asking around we found out that the event is actually known as ShareACoke. Thanks everyone who replied me including the official account!

And the rest were history.

Machiam Chinese New Year Like that!
My crazy friend who helped me to send everything back to office.
How It Works

As you can see, they have this big booth and these screens. All you have to do is spent $10 worth on any coke product (Coke zero, light and normal coke) and you get to make one of these customised one. A 6 pack will cost you $4.50 so you have to basically buy 3 x 6 in order to make 1 can lor. -.-

You will have to pay at the Supermarket's cashier 1st and show your receipt to the person in charge at the booth in order to key in your names. Do remember to take an extra carrier at the cashier because they do not provide any at the booth.

Please note, max 12 Characters. Cannot have vulgar, cannot have "Pepsi" and they even thought "Smithankyou" was a vulgar. I told the guy to google it. :x #HaoLian

From the picture you can tell that the booth is quite huge. I have no idea how they did it but in the booth there are another 3 part timer inside to ensure you get the right can.

So after you keyed in your names you will be given a strip of paper and you just have to hang around for few minutes at this small window and viola! You will get your cock Coke can(s)!

**Each Person can only make 5 cans each time. So if you wish to make more, you will have to put it on separate receipts and queue again in order to make more than 5.

My siao friend waiting for her turn.
Made one for my wife and I, 2 for Melva, her Rayman and my office - MeGuideU!
So if you are also interested, you can read more about it HERE. And if you are lazy, here's the schedule and location!

In case you are not entertained ah, here is a picture of my kisiao friend being ugly because I bully her again. HAHHA.

P.S. This is not a sponsored post. I did not get invitation to go down either. Smith Leong went down on his own account and paid for all the coke. #NotFamousEnough #SobSob #PayForYourOwnCoke
