LEAGOO Shark 1 - World's highest capacity Lithium-Polymer Battery Mobile

Smithankyou     5/24/2016 10:11:00 AM     Android, gadget, Gadget Review, LEAGOO, phones, SHARK 1     No comments

Leagoo Shark 1
I spent a lot of money on alcohol. And I mean a lot. I used to drink like 4-5 days a week which includes office hours drinking. I mean that was before I started my new diet and my whole weight loss new life style thing.

There are many articles out there talking about how 1 glass of red wine can make you healthier or how the Japanese live longer drinking sakae (or watching kinky porn, maybe) but many forgotten about how alcohol makes one more creative. Remember Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook? That's the work of alcohol. And well, of course a great mind, programming skill, a bit of business trickery, and a broken heart.

Creativity is too often held back by logic. We think of something fun and something crazy and the other part of our brain start playing devil's advocate and tell you that it is impossible. We had this conversation over alcohol at the country club after gym, (Yeah, this is how we roll. We go gym and we start going on the red after that.) wondering why can't our phones transfer energy outwards. Like instead of using my powerbank to charge my phone, why can't I use my phone to charge my friend's phone? We got creative (and carried away), talking about how our phone can do even more, with lightsaber function or laser shooting etc. Nothing much, mostly wondering how we can turn a phone into a weapon LOL.

While we are talking about the "impossible", the R&D guys on the other part of the world was working hard to prove us wrong, (or right) that it is possible.

World's highest Lithium-Polymer battery

Not only is it the highest lithium-polymer battery, it can actually be used as a powerbank itself to charge other devices! SEE! And we thought it was impossible. DAMN IT!

I really like how slick it looks.
Despite being the world's highest Lithium-polymer battery phone, it is only 8.5mm thin, or rather ultra-thin. It's not like some crazy big ass heavy signal set in the army lah!

Some nerdy specs to impress you if you actually know what it means - It has a 6" Full HD screen with a pixel density up to 368 ppi for incredible viewing experience. Which means all your porn video games will look even better!

To give it more processing power, it is running on 64-bit 1.3GHz octacore processor and 3GB RAM. (I am sure this is English but a lot of you might not get it. In simpler terms, it has an awesome processor.)

Sony 13MP BSI Camera

And you know recently I was talking about my lust over a new Sony camera? This phone is equipped with SONY 13MP BSI-2 (back side-illuminated sensor. In simple English, it means that this phone can take pictures in low-light area!) stacked rear camera. And they also have a 13MP front camera that comes with beautification 4.0. What does that means? It means SELFIE TIME!!!

Front camera. No makeup, no edit. In fact, #IWokeUpLikeThis
Back camera. And the have this "PRO" mode where you can even set its ISO, White Balance, etc. Pretty cool!
Operating System

The LEAGOO OS v1.2 is a brand-new system with improved UI, icons, smart mode, power-saving mode etc, but the "base" OS is still running on Android Lollipop! Good news for all android fans! More options of Android phone!

Universal IR Remote Control

Another interesting function from the Shark 1. The infrared remote control function can be used to remotely control TVs, set-top boxes, air-conditioners, etc. It supports over 800 manufacturers' more than 20,000 products.

Enough of talking. I shall go back to sexting staring at the phone on my bed with the extra battery life. Good news is that I do not need to look for my remote (which for some funny reason is beside the TV sometimes) to turn off my tv anymore. I can just use the remote control function! YAY!

Where to buy?

Very important question. Check out the list of retailers here!

Added: Retail price is at $399!

|Giveaway| Alcatel Flash 2 + Review

Smithankyou     12/05/2015 09:00:00 AM     alcatel, gadget, Gadget Review, giveaway, phones, sponsored post     No comments

I was a little surprised when I heard Alcatel launched a new smart phone but that's not the only surprise I've got after asking around and did some research online.

This Android OS Smart phone only cost you $199 SGD at launch (4 Dec 2015) on http://www.lazada.sg/alcatel-flash-2/. That's actually really affordable considering how smart phone these days are always rather expensive?

And just look at these pictures I saw taken by Claudia from Alvinology.com when she was in NZ!

So I was quite surprised by how nice the pictures are that I had to message Claudia to find out if she did any edit to the images but the answer was no! Quite a phone for the price isn't it?

13M pixel. For some reason it felt better from those pictures taken by Claudia.
To find out more: http://www.alcatelflash.com/flash-2/

The surprise the Alcatel tell is giving just doesn't stop here? They even have a giveaway!! #DontSayBoJio

Simply tell them what you like about the phone and stand a chance to win? EASY!! Link

I'm gonna join this and hope I can win something! Good Luck to you guys! I mean bad luck to you guys so I can be the winner! :P

KATA M3 Review.

Smithankyou     4/22/2015 12:07:00 PM     Android, Gadget Review, KATA, KATA M3, phones, sponsored post     2 comments
Looking for a new phone? Got a bit tired with using the same phone as everyone else? Want to try something new and different? Let Ah Beng Smith from "Mobile HAIR" (not mobile air hor) introduce you this brand new player in town.

The Brand New KATA M3
Like many of you, I also said "Kata?" when I 1st saw this phone. Kata is a new brand from USA. They are designed in USA and like many other phones, assembled in China. Kata brand is making inroads into Asia with Singapore as the regional headquarters. We might be a little red dot but I always feel proud when business chooses to have their head quarters in Singapore! Also means we get better costumer care! YAY!

The Hardware

Kata M3 on top of the apple iPhone 6 Plus

Kata M3 side by side with the apple iPhone 6plus
Kata M3 is actually 150.9mm in height, 76.6mm in width. 9.5mm in depth and weights 181.5g with battery. Above are pictures of how it go against the apple iPhone 6 Plus.  The grip is actually pretty good for me. The size is just nice for my palm size. Yes yes, it still goes into my pocket comfortably too.

Detailed hardware specs from official site - www.katadigital.com.sg
The Camera

I am not sure about you but as silly as it sounds, the camera is actually a very big deciding factor for me when I am buying a new phone. I know, I sound like a 19year old girl. haha.

The Kata M3's 16MP rear and 8MP front cameras are now made even better with its Gorilla Corning Glass cover. As the name suggest, it is now better and more durable! GPGT (Got Pic Got Talk).

What good is a phone if you cannot use it for selfie? #Himbo
What Is The Size of Your Sim Card?

Detailed Look of Kata M3 hardware.
We will always panic when asked what is our sim card size every time we go overseas and looking to purchase a data sim card. It is not a life changing function but this small little detail shows how detailed orientated Kata is. It really gives us a lot of convenience and not need to run around looking for sim card cutter. #SizeDoesntMatterAnymore

Detailed look at the Kata M3 sim card slot.
KataCloud

Sorry poor res, print screen lor. :X
One of the thing that I am really happy about Kata is not just the phone but they actually have their own Cloud known as the Kata Cloud. It comes free with every purchase. It is not 1 GB, 2 GB or 10GB.. it is 35GB!! 35GB!!! Can you imagine how much porn document you can store???

#BBBMTL (Buy Buy Buy, Mai Tu Liao - (Delay No More in Hokkien))

Elegant Efficiency
The best part about Kata is that this piece of elegance is not going to burn a hole in your pocket. Not only is it value for money it is also readily available. You can actually buy this at the comfort of your desk in your boxers at Lazada. But if you are an old skool shopper who likes to feel the product before purchase, you can always pop by to the Kata Store at Orchard - Lucky Plaza, #01-51, Singapore 369546.

TL;DR Version

Kata M3 - Good Buy!
System: Android 4.4 KitKat
Price - $368. Value for Money!

Samsung Galaxy Tab S Review Part 2

Smithankyou     9/24/2014 09:00:00 AM     #GALAXYTabS, #seeittobelieveit, #SuperAMOLEDtablet, Android, gadget, Gadget Review, galaxy tab s, samsung, sponsored post     No comments
“That Embarrassing Moment” - Based on a #TrueStory

Guy: “Hey Smith, what do you do?”
Me: “I’m a Social Media Manager.. Plan social media stuff and all” (This happened back when I was still doing that.”

Guy: “Oh cool. I always thought it’s interesting.”
Me: “What about you?”
Guy: “Erm.. I’m an actor on local TV..”
Me: “Oh… (Trying to get out of this embarrassing moment for both of us..”) I hardly watch TV these days..”
Guy: “It’s okay I get that very often.”

I guess we can easily get out of such situations as we get more savvy these days and it’s really true that many of us no longer watches the TV in a way that we no longer sit in front of this beautiful 60 inch black box. We do it on the go!

Dream Academy got Broadway Beng, I am the Social Media Beng.
I used to hate watching shows on the go because the phone is too small and my previous tablet was way too big. Sometimes the sunlight just gets too bright and it get so hard to watch shows but not anymore with the Super AMOLED screen! Like I mentioned in my previous post (link to previous) the Samsung GALAXY Tab S Adaptive Display plays a very big part for watching shows on the go!

No longer a couch potato because I can watch shows anywhere I want.

GALAXY Gifts:

Besides that, I too get very irritated with the process of downloading shows, books or even magazines from sites, saving it and copying it onto my devices.  Can’t we just have an easier way to get content on the go at a reasonable price and still get some entertainment?

Yes we do! When we get the Samsung GALAXY Tab S now, it actually comes with the “GALAXY GIFTS”.

It comes with over 30 exclusive content and privileges worth more than $1,000. We get to enjoy local and international content such as Toggle, SPH Magazines, Marvel Unlimited, GigOut! Plus and many more!

It’s really useful for uncle like me. Like literally being an uncle, sent my niece to lesson, turn Toggle on and enjoy TV show while waiting for her lesson to end. I do not even need to prepare ahead and pre-download the shows. GALAXY Gifts make life so much easier and fun!

There’s odd to be something for everyone in the family from kids to adult.

GALAXY Life:

Your passport to exclusive privileges, interesting app recommendations, content features, and lifestyle articles. Redeem exclusive privileges and deals at participating merchant outlets for GALAXY Tab S users on “GALAXY Life” app. Exclusive GALAXY Tab S deals include:

-       E2Max – Enjoy 30 minutes’ bonus with rental of E2Max Chambers (worth up to $70)
-       1 Simulator – Free 10 minutes trial (worth $30 an hour)
-       Party World – 3 persons for the price of 2 (worth up to $93)
-       Play Nation – 3 gaming packages for the price of 2 (worth
$44.70)

Promotions are subject to third party service providers’ terms and conditions.

All you have to do it simply tab on it, sign up and get it activated!

SideSync 3.0

When I 1st started using the Samsung GALAXY Tab S, I was all like “meh.. will I really like it and all” but now I kinda even feel like getting a GALAXY S5 LTE to pair it up with my GALAXY Tab S. Why? Simply because of the SideSync 3.0 function!

It allows easy content sharing between your GALAXY Tab S and GALAXY smartphone and lets you receive calls*/messages on your tablet even if your smartphone is out of reach say while you are charging your phone and you are in a meeting? How convenient!

This has to be featured in this list right?

Not sure what I am talking about? Here’s a video once again from HardwareZone Singapore giving you a live demo! (Too bad I can’t show this myself because I do not have a GALAXY S5 LTE!! BOOHOO!!)

*P.S. Call forwarding feature is currently available on GALAXY S5 LTE
and GALAXY Note 3 With LTE

I hope you guys enjoyed as well as learnt something interesting from both my blog post on the Samsung GALAXY Tab S. In fact I have a friend that bought a set herself after reading my shout out and she is loving it!

Final Verdict

Go get one. Get two in fact, don’t forget the Samsung GALAXY S5 LTE so you can be like Bond, James Bond.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S Review

Smithankyou     9/02/2014 12:00:00 PM     #GALAXYTabS, #seeittobelieveit, #SuperAMOLEDtablet, Android, gadget, Gadget Review, galaxy tab s, samsung, sponsored post     No comments
I’ve never been on an Android gadget long enough to say it is good or converted me into a fan. I’ve been on an Android phone of another brand before but the hardware was disappointing. It has charging problem, speaker issues and all these were within 6 months of unboxing it. No surprise I “let it go” within the 1st 6 months.

So when the opportunities came along for me to have an experience with the all new Samsung GALAXY Tab S (8.4”) LTE -- I call it the #SmithVsSamsung experience. I’m not a fan (yet) so I want to know how this Tablet can actually impress me as a gadget.

To begin with the Samsung GALAXY Tab S comes in two sizes, 10.5 inch as well as the 8.4 inch. They also come in LTE version as well as the Wifi version.  Below is an interesting table I got off Hardwarezone to have an interesting overview.
You may or may not know but these two Tablets are not just purely tablet but they do have calling as well as SMS functions too. The super sexy Super AMOLED Display screen size is perfect for a tablet and although it is not exactly your typical mobile phone size, you could still use it as a phone. Trust me, you can look cool like us unless cool isn’t your thing then maybe you can just use the earpiece.
 SUPER AMOLED DISPLAY

So I was talking about the Super AMOLED Display screen. To be honest I’ve never seen a screen like this. We actually did a comparison side by side with Samsung’s previous tablet and it made everything else looks really bad. The colour is so rich and vibrant. Given the genius in me, I would assume it uses more battery but the interesting thing is it actually offers a longer battery life! #WhatKindaSorceryIsThis

Another function would be The Adaptive Display!  You know how irritating it gets when you move around from places to places such as under the sun, in the bedroom or even in your office where the light environment is so different and you have to adjust the screen brightness manually to fit the environment? Now, with the Adaptive Display everything is done automatically! WOAH!

I think this video says a lot about how good this screen is.

Look at how bright my wall paper looks! I can stare at it all day!

Slimmer and Lighter Design

Being out of office most of the time meeting partners and clients, dragging around a big laptop is no joke. I mean I do lift but lifting a heavy laptop and lifting in the gym is two different games.

Dimensions: 212.8 x 125.6 x 6.6mm.

So slim and sexy. No joke. I really like this 8.4 inch one because I can still hold it with 1 hand and read on the crowded train.

Fits into my palm perfectly! I really like the size for reading as it is not too big and heavy like other tablets nor is it small like phone.  It is slightly larger than a Kindle whitepaper but has a lot more functions so when you are bored with reading, you can play some games.

It comes in two colours, the Dazzling White and Titanium Bronze! I thought the Titanium Bronze looks really good or maybe it’s just me who is looking for a change because I’ve way too many white gadgets at home.

Half Time Conclusion

I can’t say I am converted into a big fan yet but I must say I am pretty impressed by what this gadget is offering and how it is changing my lifestyle. I never liked to bring an extra gadget out because I like to travel light and because my previous tablet is kinda huge but now I would bring it out without feeling that it is a hassle.

If you like what I am sharing here, stay tuned for part 2 as I share with you guys more about other benefits of the Samsung GALAXY Tab S else, check out http://www.samsung.com/sg/galaxytabs/.

How to travel around the world in less than 80 days.

Smithankyou     1/03/2013 09:23:00 PM     diary, Gadget Review, Humour, lame, work     No comments

Traveling has always been one of Singaporean's favorite hobby especially during year end where everyone they have too much leave to clear and too much bonus to spent. It's a very common sight in everyone's office including mine.

We didn't have the opportunity to go for a long holiday but the group of us had a quick break and traveled around the world.
No Scoot, no jetstar, we flew ourselves around the world.
It ain't a holiday trip if there ain't pictures taken!

We went Paris!
Winer Wonderland!
Great Wall of China!
KLCC!
We go Bali Dancing Dancing~
Only the 3 of us went around the world with the help of apple's photobooth cause the other guys really did went traveling around the world without us. Although they didn't bring us along, we decide to bring Eunice along!

Apple's photobooth is really fun isn't it! For those who are wondering who we added the custom background, here is the tutorial that taught us how to do it!

Tar Dar~ So here you go! the fastest the cheapest way to travel around the world!

Mr.Smith, no $ is like that de lor.
