This Bali trip is pretty awesome not just because of the pretty landscape, bikini babes or the very pretty Ize Seminyak I'm staying at, but more because of the travel kakis.
@Gunrata (Gun) , @FloraIsabelle, @Sononui (nui), and @Zacharyyong |
You may or may not know these folks but both Gun and Nui are influencers from Thailand with followers over 100k each while Zach is Nui's hubby and a very experienced photographer. And well, for local readers I am very sure you guys know who Flora Isabelle is. (You might know her blog but you may not know know her. She is actually really funny and smart but she talks about her 17 mosquito bites wayyyyy too much like all day and night and also how the sun is making her look too tanned. Hello? Bali leh!)
Sorry i digress, so how big is the world out there? BIG, very big. How much can we learn from others? A lot. As much as I am "An award-winning" blogger with this site, I am as small as it could possibly get when putting myself side by side with these guys but yet there ain't a single moment that they make me feel smaller than them or any lousier. (or maybe also because my skin very thick so I am so full of myself lah hor. hahaha)
SEE!! SO HANDSOME! OMG! How to NOT learn how to pose from him? |
We are always talking about the differences in the industries (Singapore vs Thailand vs International), what type of content works for which market, what kind of content works better for which type of clients, how can we better engage our readers, how should we shape our own image better or even other business related topics about retail, fashion, the endless possibilities of what money can do to earn more money.
One of the most close to heart topic would probably be when client throws a pitch to us and wanting us to write a "viral" post. The word itself is already such a pain to hear. The truth about "viral" post is that we can try our best to get as close as possible to it but we can never be too sure. Even Psy didn't expect "Gangnam style" to go viral or Ylvis expected such response with "What does the fox say".
I wouldn't want to go too far as to look at others' post. I would say I have a few articles which are pretty well circulated such as the "Thai Club Culture" as well as "I hate Punggol". The truth is I didn't set out for them to "go viral" either, but it just kind of did I guess. Were they really good articles? Are they informative? Are they interesting? Do they engage with readers? Maybe I guess, but how often can we create such stroke of genius? Right topic, right title, right time, and right place? It really takes more than just good grammar and good writing for an article to go "viral". We have seen too many silly articles that went viral for god knows what reason while there are plenty good articles out there at the seabed of the internet left unread.
Also, just look at this article -
The hole in plastic chair isn’t for your fart to pass through. Here’s the unbelievable reason
Would I click on such a post? Would I write such a post? Would I think that such post will go "viral"? Probably, No, No, and how about Hell No? But guess what? Number talks:

758 shares for an article about plastic chair and its hole. WHAT??? Eh, like that how? Did you really see such results coming? I really have to give it to them to be honest. Knowing what the readers want. Or maybe just pure luck? I guess luck is also some sort of a skill too. (I don't wanna sound like sourgrapes but I really am jealous! I mean I could have written that right? LOL) I think I am going to write about why I hate Bedok, Tampines, Hougang, Sengkang, Bishan and everywhere else to milk some clicks. LOL.
Enough of random ranting, gonna get ready to play Bali-Next-Top-Model. Die lah, gonna trap in the car sitting beside Flora and I have to listen to another hour of her mosquito bites story. :(
And for fans of lil Sethankyou, here's a picture from the wife. Can't wait to see my baby!!
Anyway, see you guys in Singapore SOON!!
ya ya, and I will do a proper bali post soon. Meanwhile you can check out my instagram and look at my nice nice pictures that was taken by the guys!
