Life's a beach at Bali.

Smithankyou     2/12/2019 11:50:00 AM     bali, furamaxclusive ocean beach, seminyak, travel     No comments

La Plancha Bali is one of the must visit.

I struggle a little bit every time when someone asks me about what kind of trips do I enjoy. I mean New York City is one of my favourite cities on earth. It's fast pace, it's full of buildings, and the people are crazy. My kind of crazy.

Well on the other hand, some of my best trips include my honeymoon at Maldives with the wife, Boracay, Koh Samui, Phuket, and of course Bali. The kind of beach life where all I do is eat, drink, party, beach, repeat. (And look at girls in Bikinis) We do not need to stress over the touristy must-visits.

LA? Or Bali?

Don't get me wrong. I mean I love touristy spots as well because most of them make very good Instagram content.

 Heaven's Gate.

Wanagiri Hill and Swing.

This time round my stay was actually at FURAMAXCLUSIVE OCEAN BEACH, SEMINYAK! It's walking distance to some of the shopping as well as beach pubs but at the same time it's not right in the middle of everything, if you get what I mean. It's convenient and at the same time quiet and peaceful for those of you who wish to get a break from the parties or your city life.

Yes, I woke up to this view everyday and now I regret that I'm back. LOL.

And the suite?

It's so huge that I wanted to throw a party right there and then!

And at FuramaXclusive Ocean Beach, there are actually two different places where you can enjoy your food and also some good old Shisha, (sheesha) or some known it as Hookah. There is a package at The barrel (which is also a sports bar where you can sing KTV LOL) where you can get a set of a Shisha, a pizza (enough for 2) and a drink at only $16 SGD? CHEAPPPP! And yup, we are talking about traditional balinese food!

This trip was pretty much a last minute decisions with very little planning but we managed to wing it. Here are some information for you:

Staying In Bali

Smithankyou     6/20/2016 03:38:00 PM     bali, travel     3 comments
Few months ago, I had my 1st trip to Bali. I also shared my very compressed version of itinerary on this space of mine. As mentioned, I'm no expert but I always try my best to share what I can.

I've gotten some requests from my friends to share a little more about the two places we stayed during the trip, thanks Lifestyle Retreats.

If you are a big fan of anything quirky, hipster looking, and drinks - Seminyak is the part of bali that you would want to be. If you want to be like "zen mode on" - you should just visit Sanur. And probably not want to come back to Singapore anymore!

Taken along the street of Seminyak. The place is so hipster that they serve fuel in a cafe. Just kidding.
Ize Seminyak - Is located in the heart of Seminyak where everything is within walking distance. Food, bars, hipster cafes, fashion boutiques, and ridiculously good looking travellers. It's really party at your doorstep when you stay at Ize!
Yeah, remember this picture? Yup, you know the drill. Ignore the girl and look at the place. HAHA.
And if you are a big fan of architecture or Instagram like me, you will find that Ize is not just a nice place to stay location wise but also one that will help you get very nice shots.

And even if you got a bit tired from partying along Seminyak and just want to stay in, they have their very own bar/restaurant which offers a good mix of Balinese favourites and authentic European dishes.

Of course my pictures will b nicer than yours since I got my very own model - Sononui.
Details:

IZE Seminyak

The Samata - Away from all the happenings and busy streets. If you are looking for a "eat, pray, love" kind of experience, this is the place. It is one of those places that gives you the best view of nature.
Of course, when I say nice view I mean me. And I am all natural. 100%.
Having an exciting and fast paced life for a city boy like me might be the kind of life I embrace but I guess we all need to switch off once in awhile and enjoy what mother nature has given us. The sun, the rice field, and the tranquility that is hard to find these days.

The view at night. One of those that you can be alone and think of your plan to take over the world. Or maybe what's for breakfast.

They seriously have one of the best gym I've ever seen for any resort of hotels. A boxing ring. Seriously?
If you still want some sports action even while enjoying the tranquility, they also have tennis court, three swimming pools(Chill, Lap and Energy), cross-fit facilities, a professional boxing ring WTF and personal trainers.

I think The Samata is not only good for the whole "eat, pray, love" experience but also one of those place that is very good for team bonding trip. Instead of the typical Bintan resort and play treasure hunt or what not, I think Samata is one of those places that you just put a group of people there and they will actually spend time talking to each other and get to know each other better! Or even fall in love under the moonlight.

I secretly wish I was there with like Anne Hathaway or Emma Stone or Sarah Underwood or Anna Kendrick or.. okay, the list goes on.

Quick and Dirty Guide to Bali for Dummies

Smithankyou     5/18/2016 08:00:00 AM     bali, travel     No comments

I am obviously no expert when it comes to Bali only after 1 trip but I have been getting requests to share about the places I went so I shall do a quick and simple guide here. I'm not including everything because that would be too much and boring, so I'm just listing few of those that I really like!

Bali is a very big place. On top of the touristy padi fields and temples, there are actually a lot of nice hipster cafes as well as nice places to chill. I really like Seminyak! It reminds me a lot of Boracay (Philippines) and Ko Samui (Thailand) but with a stronger touch of "hipsterism".

Busy streets of Seminyak

Where we stayed

Although it was a short trip but we still managed to put ourselves up at two very different places to experience Bali differently.

Ize Seminyak - Is located in the heart of Seminyak where everything is within walking distance. Food, bars, hipster cafes, fashion boutiques, and ridiculously good looking travellers. And they even have a very sexy Gooseberry Intimates shop along the street! P.S. It is pronounced as "Ice" and not like "Eazy". haha.

Chio chio pool bar at Ize.
Ize Seminyak lobby. Chio hor? And don't mind that woman blocking your view. haha.
The Samata - Away from all the happenings and busy streets. If you are looking for a "eat, pray, love" kind of experience, this is the place. It is one of those places that gives you the best view of nature. Zen mode on.

My debut as CK undies model. Can or not?
That's a padi field right at the end of the pool. Superb view. But no, you are not allowed to have sex under the moonlight. (i think)

Where we #DrinkDrankDrunk (and ate)

No lah, we didn't go crazy and drink our livers away but we did go to a few nice bars for simple drinks and chill.

WooBar - Very posh looking bar that is connected to the beach. Love the view and vibe. And yes, plenty of good looking people!

Sunset
SoHo - SoHo is a nice bar which is right opposite Ize. Good news? It is 24hrs, which means it is never too early or too late for a beer. And I took this picture like 7am in the morning. Yup, I was having a beer, a fresh one, not the same one from last night lah.

Rumours Restaurant -  Fine, I didn't have a decent picture of this place but this is a must visit. Not only do they serve good food and drinks but also at a very very very reasonable price. It's so cheap for the red wine and steaks. Oh, and the waitress will start dancing when the Dj starts spinning. haha.

Sight Seeing

Moving around Bali ain't exactly difficult. You can simply Uber yourself around. And trust me, it is damn cheap. Like damn damn damn cheap. There was a trip where the driver drove a good 20mins in to pick us up and drove us back to the hotel for another good 20-30mins and the fare was $1.40 USD. It's so cheap that we felt so bad and we always tip the drivers.

Alternatively you can add Mr. Agung Bagus on whatsapp. He is a driver with his own vehicle that can bring you around a few places for a flat fee. Very good service! Add him - +62 819 99071427

If you have not much idea on which field or which temple to visit, he can actually give you some recommendation too.

Padi Field - Tegalalang Rice Terace, I believe this is very common tourist must visit spot because there were a lot of other tourists there. Please wear comfortable walking shoes for this as the steps can be rather uneven.

Cliff -  Uluwatu - quite a lot of climbing is required. And there are monkeys running around the place. So be very careful with your belongings. Especially those wearing glasses.

Market (Random Local Street) - Pasar Badung, Jl Gajahmada Dps. To be honest, there's really nothing much unless you want to be like us and take hipster looking cool photos. Else there's really nothing much.

So much good memories from the trip just by writing this post! I don't think I've enough annual leave to be back anytime soon so I guess I shall just look at the photos taken and cry myself to sleep. I swear this is one of those post/trip that I actually have so many pictures of myself. #MaleModelle (Also, there's a poll at the end of the post. Please vote wisely!)
