Tips For A Smooth Plane Ride

Smithankyou     7/21/2017 04:26:00 PM     life hack, travel     No comments

Plane rides come in two possible experience; a good one, and a very crappy one. I’m sure you guys have had that experience when you stepped off the plane and prayed you won’t have to get in one again. Bad back, sleepless ride, bad service, and others in the long list of bad experiences you can think of is DEFINITELY not the type of ride you or me would want to hop on. So, before you start packing up and going off to fly with MAS or other airlines you can think to head for the Southeast Asia region, you gotta prep yourself in order to ensure your plane ride is one smooth and fun ride. Lucky for you, Traveloka has awesome MAS online booking with in depth details regarding its features, PLUS, if you are lucky enough, you can enjoy cool MAS online promotion too. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Tickets, man, Tickets!

Man, do not, I repeat, do not leave your house without your flight tickets. The worst thing that could ever happen to anyone who is about to go on a plane trip in another two hours is leaving their flight ticket at home. It is like a sledgehammer to the guts. So, before you step through the threshold, be sure to check your tickets and passports plus visa and all are there. To make life better for you, you could prepare a small bag that keeps all important travel documents you need. Double check everything is the key and the start for a smooth ride.

Sleep is the Key to Happiness

The long-haul plane ride will tear you apart without a nice sleep. Hence, it is best to have a perfect sleeping kit that you can bring in and utilise during night time. Sleeping kits can be obtained either at the airport in the gift shops or you can bring your very own. You might need specific things that could help you sleep better especially under the circumstances you are in at that moment. Plane seats might not be as comfy as your own bed, but at least, when you reach your destination, you won’t be in too much of a crappy mood from a lousy sleep.

Keep Everything Small and Light

Your hand luggage might be causing you a pain in your trip if you don’t keep in check. When I said in check, I meant in terms of weight and size. You don’t want to expect to bring a hand luggage in a size of an elephant, right? There are certain airlines that put what you carry on board under a microscope, so, you have to be careful with what you carry and what you bring. Plus, it will also give you some space as well, as it won’t take up much of the space you need or bother other people as well. We don’t want an in-flight rumble because of freakishly huge carry-on luggage, right? Wink wink.

Dude, Where’s My Bag?

Losing your bags at the airport or during flight is a disaster. It totally destroys your travelling mood and pretty much your entire sanity. It is the utmost importance to keep your bag as much visible as you can - make it stand out as it won’t get confused with other bags and easy for you to spot when you are loading and unloading your bags. Tags on your bags will help too but usually, the only tags allowed is the current flight you are taking, so, you can tie up some other thing to differentiate your luggage from others.

Be Like A Boss. #BeLikeSmith

Smithankyou     4/06/2016 08:20:00 AM     DBS, life hack     No comments

Some moons ago, I wrote about people asking me for help. Obviously nobody reads my blog or they just do not take me seriously, because people are still coming up to me for help and advice.

This seriously puzzles me, considering how I don’t think I sound or look that friendly, especially after this hair cut.

Seriously? Do I even look friendly?

I recently got to know some young friends who stumbled upon my * cough * online life and were kinda curious. They were asking me things like how I first started blogging, how I scored an engagement gig and how I get exclusive invites and stuff.

I always feel that luck and my good looks play a very big part but I guess that’s kinda difficult to share as a form of inspiration, right? I mean I can only thank my mum for my good looks but there’s no way I can teach that. #IgotItFromMyMama #EhJokingLah

But I managed to sound all smart and inspirational in front of these youngsters and formulated something that could take you to V.I.P. status. Okay fine, maybe not V.I.P., but at least to a place where people take you seriously. (Yong Wei, please pay attention.) Truth is, everyone loves the feeling of being respected and special, and taken seriously.

1. Suit UP!

Fashion Guru at his best.

The great Barney Stinson’s teaching lives on but we know this is Singapore and suiting up in this sunny island may not be the smartest thing to do. So I shall change rule #1 to “dress for the occasion”. Human are very superficial creatures and how you dress up and carry yourself plays a big part in shaping first impressions. Just do a simple social experiment, wear your favorite PJs into a branded shop and see how many of the sales people make an effort to tend to you. Dressing up is not everything, but it does play a very big part.

Side note: I really can’t stand guys who don’t dress up properly on a date while the ladies make an effort to put on make-up, wear nice lingerie, dress and all. I mean your job is not just to say they look good but you should also look good for them as a form of respect, right?

2. Read UP!

You can’t pretend to sound smart if you ain’t smart and the easiest way to be really smart is to be knowledgeable and reading helps with that. Even if you are a true believer of “fake it till you make it”, at least pick up the papers to read the headlines or a book to read its synopsis. That’s enough to make you sound kinda smart, I guess.

3. Meet UP!

To quote the great Don Corleone, better known as “The Godfather”.

Friendship is everything.
Friendship is more than talent.
It is more than the government.
It is almost the equal of family.

How does this work? Your net worth is pretty much your network. Nothing beats meeting people. Knowing the right people for the right things. That’s what connections are about. Which is why I always say, collect favours, not money. Make others owe you favours over money because there are some favours you need to pull at times that just can’t be bought with money.

Having a rollin’ good time at #DBSSGGallery #Stopmogram activation with my kakis.

 4. Thumbs UP!

OIE! I WAIT DAMN LONG LIAO LEH!

“When life is good? THUMBS UP MAN! When life is bad? BOOO! BOOOO!” Life is seriously too short and we really shouldn’t sweat the small stuff. This is one of the biggest mistakes many make in their lives. Deciding what to eat, where to go, what to do, and what to say.

Instead, life should be about celebrating every small win in life.  If you find that meeting people, reading or dressing up in order to feel like a V.I.P is too much of a work….what about feeling like a boss simply with the help of an SMS?

Not too sure what I’m talking about? It is the DBS SMS ‘Q’ system! This may not help you to skip queue into Hai Di Lao or Zouk but it does help you save some timedoing your banking errands and erm, you can spend it queuing at Hai Di Lao maybe?

Thumbs UP to bank less, live more!
