Some of you guys might name Christmas or Chinese New Year as your favorite holiday of the year but for me it as got to be Halloween. Although Halloween might not exactly be a festival but I have always been actively involved in one. From the dead Santa Claus, Jason from Friday the 13th to even the silly Zombie from plant versus zombie, I always try my best to make Halloween fun for myself and the friends.

That's me in  2009
What about you guys? Do you guys like Halloween? Do not like to party in a club or house party? Why not visit Sentosa very own Spooktacular? We were lucky enough to get invited by OMY.sg to the Media preview of Sentosa Spooktacular this year and even luckier we are having another guest blogger here today. TheTinyBikeGirl! She was my "date" for the night and she went on and on with "SMITH! WHAT HAVE YOU GOTTEN ME INTO!"

Getting Spooked at Sentosa Spooktacular!

by:  TheTinyBikeGirl

Haunted houses have become something of a thing in Singapore lately. Just a week earlier, some friends and I were looking at preview pictures of one that will be happening and we all agreed that there was no way we were going to go for one of those. Yet when Smith asked if I'd like to tag along to the preview of Sentosa Spooktacular this year, a little part of me thought "hey, that'd be fun!" and readily agreed. Don't ask why, I still haven't figured that out yet but I have to say that I enjoyed the experience quite a bit.

Sentosa Spooktacular has been going on for 3 years now, according to the organizers, but this is the first time it is being held at Fort Siloso after dark. Normally, they close off Fort Siloso by 6 pm, so this is your chance to go get spooked there after dark. The organizers cheekily reminded us that we should be vigilant about whether the spooks around us were just talents or actual spooks. At least, I hopethey were being cheeky.

The spooky fun started at the entrance that was set up at the bottom of the hill to Fort Siloso. Walking into the curtains, we were jumped on by two ghouls dressed up in some old Chinese warrior costume things which made people in front scream. Looking up, I realized that the hill towards the entrance of Camp Berhantu, the first trail, was scattered with the walking dead lurching around, creeping up behind people and just very, very intent on scaring the stuffing out of you. I kept looking out around me to make sure nothing was creeping up on me but that's pretty tough because they were everywhere.

Just a couple of the spookies waiting for you on the way to Camp Berhantu.

According to the briefing we received before entering the trails, there are 200 talents recruited to scare the absolute daylights out of everyone and five trails to explore. The trails are: Camp Berhantu, a maze with some kind of laser tag game going on, The Land of Lost Souls, The Last Sequel, which was frankly the most terrifying of the trails, The Deadly Dolls Studio and the Ouija Board. I won't spoil the trails for you, you'll simply have to go check them out yourself. They were fantastically terrifying and hilarious at the same time. Except for The Last Sequel, that was just pure terror. There is one thing we didn't really enjoy about the trail at Camp Berhantu. The thick smoke and strobe lights blinded us so much, I think we kicked some equipment on the floor and may have stepped on a 'ghost' because we couldn't see anything. Oops.

The ghosts and ghoulies around Fort Siloso were really awesome as well. I haven't seen anyone put so much effort into making themselves look utterly terrifying since the year my friend dressed up as a burn victim for Halloween and looked so horrifying no taxi would take us home after the party. They were also willing to ham it up with us and we saw a group of them put on a dance near the cannons. I was pretty sure I spotted some gangnam style going on there. As this is an Asian themed Halloween event, you would spot some familiar Asian folklore ghosties such as the Pontianak, Chinese Vampire, Dead Soldier and Ghost Bride wandering around. The best line of the night had to be from the dude dressed up as the ghost of the satay man. We were getting pretty sweaty while waiting to enter The Last Sequel and Joyce asked him if she could have his fan. His epic response was "My fan? You can't have my fan, I'm the satay man!" which set everyone off laughing.

That was one Mahjong game that lasted a bit too long...

If you really like this sort of horror movie thrills for Halloween, you definitely need to go for Sentosa Spooktacular. The trails are the stuff that horror movie dreams are made of. And should you want to go visit the trails over and over again, they have a fast track pass that will allow you to skip the very long queues that will definitely be present. But if you're like me and don't really like tunnels full of scares, the lovely organizers have a kia gui pass for those of us who are afraid of scary, scary ghosties but still want to check out the ghosties and ghoulies wandering around.  Just remember, bring your own fan to the event, because the satay man sure isn't going to lend you his.

Sentosa Spooktacular will be held on the 19th & 20th of October, 26th-28th October 2012 at Fort Siloso from 7 pm to 11 pm each night.

Ticket prices are: $48 for the regular pass, $10 for the Kia Gui pass (no admission to trails) and an additional $25 for the fast pass. Tickets can be bought at Sentosa ticketing counters at VivoCity or www.spooktacular.com.sg

Disclaimer: I was invited to this preview. All opinions in this post are my own.

The event was a fruitful one and the crowd does matter. As for this time round I don't mean the "good brothers" but I am referring to the other bloggers that made the event really fun.
