I find this very interesting. How do they keep track of your 1st or 2nd or 4th if in a case where you left the counter without getting yours. Will they go to your table and check? Charge you even when you didn't take your share or are they just going to close an eye on it?
So I can no longer eat my fries with Sweet and Sour sauce without paying 30cents now? Is this a global McD move or is it a Singapore only move? If it is a Singapore only move, I think this deserves to go onto the books of record. Curry sauce for you? No?
Then again, 30cents might not exactly be a lot to us individual BUT...
Remember the popular online "OMG Facts" which goes something like this :
"American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating one olive from each salad served in first-class."
How true is that? According to and article on skeptics.stackexchange.com
"This is attributed to Bob Crandall, the American Airlines CEO of that timeframe. He was indeed a very driven individual to reduce cost and make money. This particular exploit is covered in a book calledCorporate Creativity: how innovation and improvement actually happen By Alan G. Robinson, Sam Stern. The story is detailed on page 107, although there it is claimed it saved $500,000 annually! Which is significantly over most of the references I found claiming anywhere from $40,000 to $80,000 (more in line with your question). Maybe that's accounting for inflation?"
Sounds like McD is going to save a lot more? OR make a lot more?
But according to an article sometime back when Curry Sauce was 1st re-introduced, the main reason was:
"We've found a way to remove allergens, in this case peanuts, from the production process," McDonald's said in the statement, adding that the new sauce actually costs more to produce.
The company said it has tried to "keep (the sauce) as close as possible to the original, and test respondents have told us that the sauce is a very close match".
And this time round, official release on TODAY's article explanation:
"McDonald's made the announcement on its Facebook page yesterday, saying the new policy was to help "reduce wastage and prevent abuse of our free Nuggets Sauces". By 7.30pm yesterday, there were 460 comments and 282 shares on the post."

Personally I think I am fine with paying cause we all know that IF we do not pay, it just means that they will raise the price and add it in as a hidden cost which probably means you have to pay even when you didn't ask for it. And you will still pay for it cause it's Mcd, you will complain and you will still pay.
Anyway I found this very amusing picture from Singapore 9gag facebook page.
One of the best so far. And I really really like the local context of "Only what".
Mr.Smith, complain complain, don't eat LAH!
