Yes ah.. the long awaited Street Fighter IV for PS 3 is finally out and I have finally h00ted it. damage abit pain but still okay !!
History of playing Street Fighter goes way back and my 1st Street Fighter game was on the Sega 16bit Street Fighter 2 the new challenege where 4 new characters Fei Long, Deejay, Cammy and T.Hawk was introduce to the series..
I would say this time round it is a Come Back for Street Fighter as there was this stink period where they have the 3D ( Tekken Alike kinda of Graphic ) known as Street Fighter EX and the Street Fighter 3 ( where u have Alex and Sean and gang ). These series didn't exactly made good comment iirc..
anyway this time round SF IV is back.. which very nice graphics and move method.. Graphics for the ps3 definatly didn't do PS3 too much a justice ( comparing to games like MGS4 ) but i think it's good enuff for a fighter game where action is by the seconds. And the ultra combo cut scene is pretty impressive. Although the graphics have evolve into a 3D environment the playing style is still 2D ( flat and 1 layer fighting ) which keeps the taste of Street Fighter. Thanks for not making it like Street Fighter EX ( for those who dunno EX version,it's fighting style is like tekken where the environment allows you to turn around in 360 Degree,cool? but that will be only cool if the fighting is like tekkne but too bad it's not ! )
Game play is much better comparing to Street Fighter 0 where they introduce the A-sim, X-ism and Y-ism which i find it too complicated and makes the whole Fighting game not so fun.. this time round they have the super combo and the ultra combo..
Super combo as usual will be accumulated when u succesfully attack the opponent where else ultra combo is the other bar which i find it pretty cool.. it will only be accumulated when u get hit.. so in a way u can still comeback if u are pretty close to losing..
Element of unlocking more characters, doing it the tekken style, complete the characters to earn more ! i have always been a sucker for such mechanics.. so no doubt i love it and on top of that to make it more challeneging, in order to unlock gouken(gouki's brother) u have to clock settle amount of perfects and ultra finishes.. w00t !! nice !
what's more plus plus for ps3? they have this arcade mode which allow online players to challenge u anytime just like as if u are seated at the arcade where others can just come and fight with you !!
You can spent hours on this button smashing game and you wouldn't get tired of it.. the replability is sky high for fighting game sucker like me.. Tekken, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter.. I'm not a good player.. but i enjoy it. be it which kind of mechanics it's still interesting.
Cons ? - there is no team battle or tourney mode where u can play against a few of ur friends on the same console? like 8 characters and i enter maybe 4-5 character and we can have a day of fun.. but nah.. they didn't have this in the game..
Controls ! total of 8 buttons to handle on the ps3 control aint the best part of the game and to get the hiro stick it will cost u a good $180 SGD !! OMG !! it's even more expensive then the game !!! i would rather save the money for a rock band dude !!
