GST makes headline!!

Yesh!! GST makes headline.. not only on the newspaper of Singapore.. but also on many friends' MSN nick who is concern abt it.. and of cause i guess that much.. internet search.. so i do believe that writing this blog will be putting my life on the line if i say anything wrong!!! i believe there will be someone typing a search "GST" + "BLOG" and read wat bloggers like us are complaining?? nahz.. i've nothing to worry.. as i aint famous and i'm not gonna write anything offensive..

thinking abt this 7% GST thingy.. me too did some research online and i dunno how true can this be but this is wat i have found on wikipedia

Singapore introduced a Goods and Services Tax (GST) with an initial rate of 3% on 1 April 1994. This has substantially increased government revenue by $1.6 billion, stabilising the government's finances.[34] The government has used revenue from the GST to reorient the economy around services and value added-goods to reduce dependence on electronics manufacturing. The taxable GST was increased to 4% in 2003 and to 5% in 2004.

so base on the paragraph above.. i concule

1994 - 3%
2003 - 4%
2004 - 5%
200? - 7%

and another line pointed out this

More details of the GST increase will be announced on 15 February 2007, which is Budget Day. Mr Lee added that Second Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam would deliver the Budget speech.

so we dun need to worry when it will happen la.. got sometime b4 our budget day.. ?? u didnt know there's a budget day?? the day after Valentine day leh.. of cause must budget la.. the day b4 spent so much on GFs and BFs.. :lolx:

and also from Wikipedia ( i realli love this website)

other countries who practice GST

Canada - 7%
Aussie - 10%
Hong Kong - 5%
New Zealand - 12.5%

looking at the chart above.. so singapore's 3% was all along a low GST rate comparing to wat other country is doing..

and pardon me.. i aint some politicial or sumthing.. i just find it interesting.. there might be an answer sumwhere from some talk but i just dunno..

1994 - 3%
2003 - 4%
2004 - 5%
200? - 7%

how come our gahment only increase the 1% after 9 yrs and after that within the 1 yr it raise another 1% and after awhile it raise another 2%? is there a pattern to observe?

anyway from wat it seems.. GST seems to be sumthing good... it might be pain for now but our tourist spend in SG and gahment get rich.. and gahment rich.. we also rich rite? like wat they say " Da lu Hao, Xiang Ka Hao, Xiang Ka Hao Da Jia Hao" so now " Ah Gong Hao.. Jia Hua also Hao?" hahaha..

like wat the article pointed out.. in 1994 the 3% actualli revenue 1.6 billion!!!!

so look on the bright side peeps.. cheers for GST~~
