What's your favourite type of holiday? I've friends who enjoy shopping trips in busy cities, some travel overseas to seek adventures such as sky diving or mountain climbing, while some just enjoy a relaxing laze-around trip.
Me? I was never really into traveling until recently. I remember I once had a conversation with my friend sometime back about the benefits of buying a bigger TV as compared to traveling.
"You see ah, a TV can last you many years and you can watch many programs including travel programs as compared to a 4D3N tour. Your happiness only last for 4 days."
Before you guys send me hate mails, let me tell you something, I was wrong. I hardly admit it, but that me who said those words years ago was wrong. Dead wrong.
There's a Chinese saying that goes 读万卷书不如行万里路 - which means "Traveling thousands of miles is better than reading thousands of books" ( loosely translated) which I'm now subscribed to. So what changed? I guess I never really travelled the way I'm travelling now as compared to how I used to travel. The experience, the people I meet, the things I did within that 4D3N can be so breath-taking that it's actually an experience of a life time. Something that you will always, always remember. And that, is worth a lot more than the blardy TV. Fine, I would still love to have a new TV (for my Overwatch/PS4 addiction which I will talk more about soon) but I really do enjoy traveling these days.
As much as I always tell people that I'm a city boy who loves skyscrapers, parties and work (Yeah, that's not a typo. I really like to work) I do need my downtime as well. Nothing beats a beach resort stay at Amari Phuket.
The good thing about my stay at Amari Phuket is that all you need to do is to get to the resort. You know how some trips you will go "guys, what's next. Let's take a Uber to this beach, let's take the train to that building, and let's hit this place before nightfall so we could make it back before peak hour traffic" Well, not this trip.
My trip at Amari Phuket went,
"You want to get a drink?"
"Sure"
"You wanna go into the pool?"
"Sure"
"You wanna eat?"
"Sure"
Everything was decided last minute. You do not need to plan anything at all because everything's there for you at the resort. You can laze around all day with no plans in mind and still get everything you want at the very last minute. That's my kind of recharge.
During the check-in, the receptionist was explaining to us the number of pools they have, the spa, and she also mentioned about free flow drinks and snacks at the club house and I have no idea what she was talking about after that. My mind was just at the club house waiting. So it's not hard to figure out where I really spent my stay.
Lazing by the pool, at the bar, in the pool, by the pool, at the bar, in the pool, and repeat.
Good thing is they have more than 1 pool, in fact they have 3. So you can actually take your pick or just go to everyone like what I did.
And if you are done with lazing around. You can actually take a short walk of tranquillity that cuts right through a little forested hill area and check out their very own private jetty. We were really impressed with the walk to be honest. We were half expecting a really nature walk (which is another way of saying unattended, slippery and dangerous like many other nature walks we have been to) but this actually has proper walkways and even safety handles for clumsy people like girlboss. cough.

And our rooms? The two bedroom suite club ocean view balcony... The room was very spacious, very clean, facilities were more than sufficient. They have everything from TV to fridge and even to a kitchenette if you wish to do some cooking. (Which in my opinion you do not need to. Just get room service.) Also, please take a look at THAT view! OMG!
If these pictures ain't enough, you can actually take a 360 degree virtual tour here! This virtual tour actually reminds me a lot of my school days. The very 1st school project I did back in school was a website with virtual tour. I know, kinda nerdy.
If it's your first time at Phuket and you really need to check out Patong Beach (because FOMO) or their night life, it's actually a relatively short walk from the resort, or if you are lazy like us, the hotel can arrange a tuk tuk ride for you.
If you are
Tourist gonna tourist.
Honestly, if you ask me, I could really do without that visit to Patong Beach. I had everything I need at the resort. Good food, good drinks, good view, and a very very comfortable bed. (And WiFi).
If you are looking at the next beach resort getaway, I would totally recommend you Amari Phuket.
