No Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo but Smithankyou and Flora Isabelle can lah hor? |
Being a Singaporean who is super proud of our defense system, I agreed to the Paya Lebar Airbase Open House 2016 media trip invite immediately. And also because I figured out there will be a Chinook and I can totally spoof this Descendants of the Sun thing. Okay lah, I didn't bring my number 4 along so not that hardcore yet. #HimboMaxMax
Actually this trip was a rather emotional one for me. The last time I actually visited the air base was with my late brother, who was a pilot before he left us. I vividly remember how the place was like and how my brother brought me around the place as a proud pilot. Tears started rolling off my eyes the moment I saw this familiar place.
Static Display
Managed to snap a picture with my kor kor's plane at the Static Display area! The KC135 |
I was a major cry baby on the day. It was so embarrassing and Flora was totally lost not knowing what to do with me. Her pretending not to noticed (or maybe she really didn't) was a great way to save my dignity lah hor lol.
They actually have pilots on duty to answer any queries regarding the planes as well. When they asked if I've any questions, I really really wanted to ask when will our planes be able to transform but I figured out I shouldn't do such things.
The RSAF’s Operational Capabilities Demonstration
Besides the different static displays, we were also treated with the highlight of the event - The RSAF’s Operational Capabilities Demonstration! And no hor, RSAF doesn't stand for Round Short And Fat. It means The Republic of Singapore Air Force. Round short and fat also got nothing much to demo lor.
It's an aerial displays by the RSAF's F-15SG and F-16C multi-role fighter aircraft, AH-64D Apache attack helicopters, and CH-47 Chinook helicopters. The demonstration also includes the GBAD systems, Surface-to-air Python-5 and DERby (SPYDER) and Mechanised IGLA. No idea what I'm talking about right? Which is why you need to be there to watch this action-packed demonstation. This will be happening at the Grandstand, at 10:30am and 2:30pm on 21 May (Saturday), and at 11:30am and 4:30pm on 22 May (Sunday). (This is very important information. Bold, Underline and Italic already. If you still miss it, I also bo bian already.
Besides this show, there will also be additional shows, such as the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Red Lions Parachute Team display (at the Grandstand), security and enforcement operations conducted by the SAF Military Working Dog Unit (at the K9 Demo Area), and the weapon arming demonstration of the F-15SG and F-16D+ fighter aircraft (at the Static Display Area). On also not forgetting live performances (at the Performance Hall) by the SAF Band and participating schools, and the games conducted by SAFRA Radio and SAF Music and Drama Company.
And guess who was crying AGAIN the moment the planes took off? I remember how much my brother went through during his days especially when he was doing his basic wing course over at Australia. The family has always been proud of him.

The uniform photo booth has always been one of the favorite segment for everyone. And with no surprise, this too will be back at the event this time round happening at the RSAF Pavilion! Although the last open house was held 5years ago, the RSAF has always been showcasing their capability and allow the member of the public to be informed about what's happening with events like RSAF45@Heartland.
Check out all the programs and happenings lined up for you! |
Erm, sorry, I also want to fly on a F-16 but no. F-16 only for phototaking. (oops, got the plane wrong apparently. Thanks for the comment anonymous. Edited) |
Sorry to inform you that the rides' boarding pass has all been allocated via "e-balloting system" on RSAF facebook page and closed on 13 May. But if you are a winner, you will be notified by SMS and you will get to experience flying on a military aircraft! No F-16, but "mai hiam buey pai", we got to fly around Singapore on a F-50!
We might not have views like the great canyon but our HDBs are really pretty looking from the sky! God must be proud of us. (or whoever who designed HDBs)
See ah, with the popularity of Descendants of the sun, it is proven that the whole army uniform thing works for the ladies. So gentlemen, please get ready your uniform for night duty. If you get what I mean. And for the single ladies, if you need some eye candies, below are some information you might need to find happiness over this weekend. (Or you prefer me, you can always drop me an email. :X )

The aircraft of the photo which the lady is walking up to is F16 and not F15.
Now I never have to worry about my security issues and other such safety problems because security guards for hire san Francisco is always there for me! I would suggest them to all!
