Age has always been a rather sensitive issue to many especially woman, but lately more and more man seems to be a little more sensitive as well.
I guess I got it easier because of my chubby face and the adventurous attitude towards life including my choice of clothing (I wouldn't call it fashion), everyone thinks that I am younger than my actual age. (sniggers*)
Including this silly age test I did recently.
This is the 2nd time I did the test. The 1st test result shows 26. |
I used to face a lot of clients during my days when I 1st started in Events Management as an Account Executive and trust me, looking young ain't a plus point. Inevitably they feel like I am too green for their projects.
And this was a real conversation that happened in front of me and my boss back then.
Client "Oh, Smith looks young"
Boss "Oh ya, he joined the company not too long ago but already working on a few major projects with clients such as Far East Organization, Great Eastern, Singapore Post, and DBS just to name a few."
* Me feeling all good and nodding.
Client "He looks very green. You sure he is experienced enough for my project?"
* SHOT THROUGH THE HEART! AND I'M TO BLAME!!!
See! I mean this is only one of the few problems looking young has brought me. I was actually carded when I went clubbing like 3 yrs ago. I was 29 yrs old and I got carded for a place that has a minimum age of 21 yrs old which my younger looking friends just walked in before me. SERIOUSLY? How much has the bouncer been drinking?
Also not forgotten how many girls actually wanted to date an older man instead of me when I was younger?
I always knew my older man charm time will come eventually BUT now that I'm the older man, I am actually also the married man with a kid that has no time and interest for younger girls.
Sorry ladies. Maybe next life. FYL.
