So I've shifted to Punggol (not so)recently. New neighbourhood, nice neighbours, nice waterway and fresher air too but not everything is a bed of roses in Punggol.
Me and my awesome Neighbours. My friends are always very jealous that I can actually have neighbours that I hangout. it's like fairytale to him. |
1. Lack Of A Decent "Interchange"
Image from www.panoramio.com |
It sucks that we are living out of that pattern now because there ain't a decent shopping mall above Punggol MRT station. Now we knock off, do everything and anything out side of Punggol and than we have to travel half of Singapore before we reach Punggol. And once we reach Punggol, it means go to bed and good night. Maybe that is also the town plan where we are force to be bored and do nothing but make babies.
2. There are NO Taxi
Punggol is a God forsaken place. There are no Taxi at any point of time. Grab Taxi, Uber, Taxi Taxi or whatever app you have. They will not save your life. Ask @GenkiGenki he knows. LRT and MRT is so much better!
3. No Friends will visit you
You can have a good sofa but you will not have friends. |
4. The Food Sucks
Probably because this place is so young we do not have any anchor food hawker that has 20 years history like in Geylang, Tampines, Bedok etc. We do not have a big mall that have big chain restaurants. The food at our food court and hawker really sucks. The best thing in Punggol is like McDonald's and Master Crab. That is how bad it is. And my favourite Dominoes Pizza doesn't even make delivery to Punggol. FugMyLife! P.S. Punggol Nasi Lemak not even found in Punggol BTW!
5. STUPID ROAD NAMES!
I still get lost in Punggol after staying there for 2 years. I mean what is wrong with Punggol Ave 3, 4, 5? Punggol St 21, 22, 23, 24? I mean it makes more sense that after 23 is 24 as compared to Punggol Field, Punggol Central, Punggol Emerald and why is EdgeField Plains doing in the middle of all the other Punggol road names? Why are we complicating the road names so badly when it can be so simple in a matter of just using some numbers? As if being far, not having parking ain't a bad enough reason for people not to come to Punggol and now you want people to get lost and pissed off with coming to Punggol?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
All these being said, we had little choice considering how crowded the country is and resale flats are just way too expensive. I am just glad my wife and I managed to get one of these BTO before the mad demand in HDB and causing the price hike. Okay, end of rant.

Haha... To your last point though, I could argue that using road names for numbers can be just as confusing. Especially if they may not necessarily run sequentially. But yeah, if "Edgefield Plains" is not a road running through a savannah where a lion could emerge and maul you, it's a badly named road.
2 notable food outlets.... The steamboat next to popeye is really quite good... And the zhichar next to the angmo mart nearer the driving range. That is REALLY good.
1) Its a developing estate and the mall is coming up in a few years.
2) I always manage to grab a taxi within 10 mins using the grabtaxi app. I cab 6 days a week for the past 2 years, so your point is invalid.
3) Singapore is a pretty small nation. Not wanting to travel to Punggol equates not wanting to travel to Sengkang/Hougang/Tampines since they are all 5 mins apart. Sounds like you have lazy ass friends.
4) Go explore your neighbourhood please. I am sure there are many people living in Punggol who can disagree on not having good food.
5) The road names are part of a pilot project, similar to Sengkang. The limited areas of Punggol would mean that having different street names pose no issues. And is it really so hard to follow the road signs? If you asked me to go Jurong West St 42 do you really think it would be easy for me since I have never stepped foot there?
Dear Anonymous 3.10pm,
thank you for your feedback. you sure do love Punggol a lot and yes, my friends are lazy or maybe they just don't wanna hang out with me.
You are always welcome to write an article about why you love punggol too!
Haha Smith, cheers mate. I'm sure you did not have this rant for nothing. Whatever it is, I do hope you grow to love Punggol one day too =)
1) Interchange and shopping malls
A: I agree. But then, whoever moves into Punggol, knows about it. You and us, makes the choices... so we do not complain too much about it.
2) Taxis
A: As some1 above me has pointed out, I also do not have problems using the taxis app. I have use Uber several times successfully, no failure even once.
Even try calling cab at 4am using Uber also no issues. You must be staying by the Punggl beach is it? Thats why no taxis?
3) Friends Visit
A: Your friends doesn't visit you doesn't means nobody else has visitors. Even when I am staying in geylang east central, also not much people come visit me duing non holidays. To complain on no friends coming to visit is just to admit you have little friends, or that you have overly high regards to your friendships.
4) Food Sucks
A: You should put that food is LIMITED. Some tzi char which were pointed out is actually good.
5) road names.
A: Til now I did not remember the road names. I just need to tell the taxi uncle to drive me into Punggol and I will direct the driver where I wanted to go.
Not to sound offensive but I would say this is a non-issue.
As with new residential developments, it has always been the same. Our parents had been facing the inconveniences we have now back in the late 80s and early 90s when AMK, Jurong, Tampines or Bedok was just developing to cater for folks moving out of kampungs.
Give it another 5-10 years, and if you are still residing in Punggol, I'm betting you won't want to leave anymore. (just like how you missed older towns now).
Dear Anonymous 3:57pm
haha. actually it's more just for the fun of it and pointing out some of common problem we face staying in punggol in a more light hearted manner but i guess many people are taking offence as if I am going to burn down punggol.
Like i mentioned, i do love punggol for its other beauty besides this few part. haha.
Huat ah!!
Dear Anonymous 4:08 pm,
yup! totally understand what u mean. Which is why i did mention is it really not just them but more of me because of my experience at Tampines for the last 20 over yrs where I got really spoilt.
I sure hope punggol gets more action in the coming years!
Can i know whats the good food having at punggol?
This is some next level BS...You probably should have thought of all this first before you even signed for the flat, isn't that difficult to foresee all this happening. LOL. You pretty much asked for it. What would you have the big brother do when election is around the corner? Have them build an entire interchange, get ba chor mee aunty/chicken rice uncle to move into a hawker centre that is MADE to look like it's 20 years old, so that you can feel like you're back "home"? Then you will vote for them? Here is a good steady ladder, time to get off your high horse.
Dear all, my hubby and I moved from Bedok to Punggol 13yrs ago... we stayed at Punggol North for 10yrs and then moved to Punggol west for another 3yrs... from NO BUS, No foodcourt, No minimarts till now I can proudly say we still love Punggol... the tranquility when there's totally nothing at all to have minimal amenities till we walked from Sengkang back to Cove LRT was a blissful walk. We have seen Punggol for 13yrs and we certainly would look forward for many more years to see Punggol grow!
Typical winner,.... Got shelter also complain, mature estate complain expensive
Tze char at Koufu next to the CC not bad.
Poor Smith - he is merely sharing his personal experience and look at what he gets
I don't understand why a lot of people are unhappy about this post. Don't take this too seriously lah. I agree the road name is so confusing. I guess the cab just depends on the timing. If you call when it rains or at the peak hours, sure difficult to get. The rest I think can wait few more years.
Erm...
Initially, what triggers you to stay there? It's still a young town and developing. Give it some time.
Then sell it n move out of punggol then. :)
#youshouldbesorryyousoundlikeasorryassbrat
Got to agree with the food part... it SUCKS!! (when it comes to the halal option). The only thing they serve here are indian muslim and I am really getting sick and tired of it
4th qrt 2015 watertown mall coming. Hang on there all punggolians :)
2 years only.... no problem lah.... when we moved into your neighbouring town in late 1990, there are no traffic lights at the junction, food have to bought at the next town, no mall, no market, no nothing... but the peace and quiet is fantastic. you can hear crickets in the night. And no MRT nor buses.. it's really ulu.
Fast forward to today, the town is bursting with humanity, MRT, LRT, buses are all up and running. There are malls, coffeeshops, wet market too. Oh yeah, the MP work really hard... but no more crickets, lots of noise from buses on the road, roads more busier. You can hear quarrels now from other blocks...
But there is no magic spell to make all things happen overnight... it will take years to develop.. So sit tight. or you can pack up and go. Your choice.

Whilst it's true that Punggol cannot hold its own against the likes of Tampines, Ang Mo Kio and even Hougang, it's not that bad la.
Visited friends there a couple of times. It's better than Woodlands. (Woodlands has everything, mall, mrt and tons of "undersirable" characters.)
Well said.. punggol is a slum
You forgotten to mention tons of young married couples like urself flooding the once peaceful piece of land... and dont like it then move the fxxk out :)
I grew up in Tampines and the reasons you stated are exactly what I fear which is why i'll not consider Punggol and SengKang for my new house no matter how cheap the flats are. In any case, I wanna recommend Uncle Leong seafood near the golf range which is good and prices are quite reasonable!
1) Once upon a time, Tampines started off similar to the way Punggol is now. Time. Give it some time. Time does wonders.
2) You certainly haven't been checking out Punggol enough dude. There are some good food n also tranquil hangouts.. far from the maddening crowd.
3) Yes. No taxis during peak hours. But I certainly wouldn't go as far as to say there are no cabs at any hour. I cab very often. I stay in Punggol.
4) 15 years of education you (probably) have had and still seemingly struggling with the road names. Well, if all else fails, take comfort in knowing there is Google maps.
5) Grow some loyalty to where you've chosen to call home will'ya?
English, dude. You need to work on your grammar. It's as dismal as Punggol :\
If U look at the map, the clusters in Punggol are in grids (actually quite similar to Manhatten, NY)
Can't remember the road names, theres always Garmin/GPS/Google map
For me the -ive thing about Punggol is the airplane noise flying past every morning and evening and more frequently when near National day
TPE exit 9 is also another -ive thing
Otherwise Punggol is quite a lovely place

By 2018...you will regret what you wrote here...
if you don't like it this place..why you choose to move here???
Every new budding estate goes through the same phase. They take a period of time to develop, not built in a day or two and have all the facilities and amenities; that's why they are called Mature Estates. I moved into Yishun with my parents in 1988, MRT service up till Yio Chu Kang. We had to take a bus, super packed bus to get back daily. Did anyone whine? But look at Yishun now? A bustling place! It's all about your adaptability to your neighbourhood and learn to embrace the beauty within.
Well to be fair..i stay bb and i do need to practically take all sorts of expressway just to reach my friend's place in punggol.. :p
I stayed in Tampines for my whole life and will be moving to punggol once my block is done building too. I can totally understand how wonderful Tampines is. You ought to have predicted that theres nothing but peace in Punggol when u chose there in the first place. Be glad that you got the chance to get a number for the bto becos many couples still dont have this chance after much tries. Maybe you should learn how to appreciate ur surrounding and you would have find Punggol to be a wonderful town too. If you find the food in punggol to be real bad, perhaps you can pick up some cooking skills and cook during weekends.
did any1 of u know that there is a haunted house in punggol....
1.I think when making the decision to move to Punggol, you would have considered the not yet fully mature amenities, no?
2.Also, seletar mall's Songfa Bakuteh is not bad. The newly established thai/french/japanese casual dining is not bad too, with more hits than misses (new business by earnest youngsters, give them a try :) )
3.What everyone else has already said.
Cheers
Ranting say ranting la.. Never do research before moving?
Even the HDB parking is not free on Sundays which is madness considering that 95% of HDB carparks elsewhere are free on Sundays. Everywhere except Punggol (and probably Sengkang too). Punggol sucks.
As a chinatowner who got married, moved to Bedok and am currently renovating my Edgefield plains BTO, I totally feel you. I don't even know which is my nearest LRT cos the geographically closer one requires more physical effort to get there.
Get lost every time I go try to visit my new place and once, on wheels, ended up on seletar road. How!?
But yeah I'm sure things will get better.
Let's look forward to a more happening Punggol!
What I don't like about Punggol is it is the highest density estate in Singapore. Like all new estates, the blocks are double sided, uniform height and tightly packed together. It gives a crowded feeling in your own neighbourhoods that cannot be escaped until you go to an older estate.
Punggol was not spared even though it is outlying. And in future, all new estates will be like this or worse.
I'm very sure someone will reply and talk about the canal park, telling me what to think. A bunch of people glorifying Punggol doesn't change things.
Seriously the naming is totally suck, Instead of using ave and st, they like to use complicated names. Sometime is hard to connect them together. If u live in punggol, it may be easier for but when you have visitor, it damn frustrating, One of my hated road Sengkang East Way, point here, point there, point everywhere. Closer to this road is Sengkang East Ave, Sengkang East Rd. Ended up dunno where the hell am I
Serious?? Is that the one next to the fishing area?? Cos the last time and only time I want it smelled like a sewer and is like a mosquito breeding ground man... not to mention choking cigarette smoke ... no offence to smokers I used to be one too but it really is too much sorry to say... :D
I do agree that I am one of those lazy friends who refused to go to Punggol if I have a choice; after all, not everyone w/cars or taking cab from other places to Punggol is not an easy matter since I do not know the place well too..
But I think the good thing about this newly developed estates are there will be more shopping malls be developing there and the HDB flats are usually bigger than the already developed estates.. However, so far, I didn't see much of developing in these newly-developed estates and I believe they are trying to keep this estate within nature as much as possible..
Author and all other Singaporeans who love to complain should shut the fuck up because there are other countries that do not even have basic shelter. Heck, dont even look outside Singapore - there are some people out there who dont even have their own house! Jeez. KNN, make me angry reading this.
Besides you think Tampines and Bedok started out as a new estate with all the amenities that you have now, issit? Be realistic lah.
move out lor.complain so much
Whoever said that grabbing a cab in punggol is easy can go kiss their arse. I challenge you to grab a cab at 8-9am at punggol edgefield block 106A. It is a cursed land to get a cab atthat time.
You forgotten to mention the on going construction that the garment just wish to build without taking into the residences consideration. Air, noise pollutant. It makes me feel like I'm living in a bloody construction yard. The morning traffic to TPE is also a big choas in the morning and evening. 2 bloody exit for the whole bloody Punggol! I'm sure you can easily hit 10 bloody reasons that Punggol is a shit place to live in.
Dear Minz.
You might want to take back your words. Frankly speaking Punggol houses is not cheap and won't be cheap. If you got good foresight it'll be so so expensive and with good amenities that you'll want to blame yourself for not choosing it then. I'm not saying Punggol is good now but like most of the forumers here commented. It just takes times because the Big Brother is always about supply and demand in the dollars and cents point. Anyway the choice is still yours. Good luck on your hunt for your Dream House.
It's the Matilda House. It's no more haunted. It's build into a clubhouse in one of the Condominium project I belive.
Smith bro, don't feel so down hearted about the things soon there is going to be a big mall with iMax theaters where it is our town center.
Friends not visiting us it's a matter of us inviting them over, depending on people also like me I stay here in punggol last time lived in hougang all my life so punggol is still pretty ok for me but my friend who stay jurong side say "punggol 鳥不生蛋" but to me it's the other way round.
What you said also reminds me of when I used to stay at hougang ave 5 when I was young some 30 years ago only 1 feeder bus to kovan which was the only town center. 2 coffee shops and basic amenities everything was so damn far.
I believe tampines also the same 30 years ago when it was a new estate now matured it's different.
Be a bit more patient bro, some of the other residents in punggol stayed here in punggol for more than 10 years with less. Be a bit more optimistic look at it like you are growing with the estate, get excited about new things happening etc the lrt line opening, the new Watertown shopping center, the new seafood center at punggol end and later having all the seafood center in east coast moving to punggol end.
Tebing lane there also have some things to do like pawning seafood restaurant etc. these were things that people who stayed here for more than 10 years didn't have last time.
I agree that SK & punggol is a shit place, but mainly not for the reasons stated above though they might be true. I actually more concerned about the estate density. I know many people say that yes, AMK, Bishan, Tampines, Toa Payoh might have the same problems 20-30 years ago, but I'm sorry, have you actually taken a look at the difference in estate density in mature estates and the new estates? It's ridiculous. Flats are squeezed so closely together like an animal prison complex, and that's only on the 2d space, flats are substantially higher these days. Can you see the problem I'm getting at? LRT is close to useless, there is a limit of the no. of buses you can put on the road, even the roads are not exceptionally wide. Sure, in the years to come, there will be improvements to transport, and malls, but the most probable mode of transport would be by bicycle cos the rest of the transport system will be pretty much F****D.
My 2c, and yes, I'm never gonna buy a flat there.
There is sometime about new estates having lesser resources than older estates as time progresses. It is true that Punggol might get better over time but it will take much longer than Tampines and Bedok. Don't forget there are other estates in the waiting list drawing the same pool of resources (National) like Woodland, Sembawang, Jurong, etc and, as population saturates, it would be more difficult to justify the need for further improvements if the necessities are already adequate.
Ah, all the butthurt punggolites taking offence at what is a narrative of personal experiences, and resorting to ad-hominem attacks dont-like-it-then-f-off fallacies.
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/eat-drink-man-woman-16/lol-guy-hates-living-punggol-4996769-6.html
Seriously if you hated punggol that much, punggol doesnt Welcome you at all. all your point are crap. Taxis? Use the grabtaxi apps please! You can get a taxi less than 5 mins. Also you have some lazyass friends there. the bus is so convenient. 34 (15mins reached punggol) pasir ris(no3, half an hr reach punggol) and there are alot so On. Also food in koufu punggol plaza esp the vegetarian are so nice. if want shopping, go to compass point from punggol mrt to sk mrt only less then 5 mins. If lazy take bus 83. Seriously all your reason make u looks and sounds stupid!
TO all those who said Punggol is a new estate and give it time, and say that Tampines used to be like that..... er. Sorry to burst your bubble, but think of PASIR RIS. It's as old as Tampines, and still as god forsaken as 20 years ago.
Punggol isn't THAT new, after all.
20 years ago. No one want to stay Tampines also lah. I know i considered it super ulu and many other people did.
But now no one really considers Tamp ulu anymore. Infact Tamp Central is so damn crowded that cannot even get parking....
Why do we need to take so much personal offense in everything. haha . It's his blog so just let him rant.
Don't like what you read, move along.
Hehe.. the ghost feels rich now so no more need to haunt.
I get the impression that PUNGGOL RESIDENTS, newly web, young parents are all quite rich and well to do. Is this true?. I was told the price of heartlander kopitiam, hawker food court dishes they cost more as compare to other part of SG.
No comments or complaints from punggol residents agasint these greedy business people who think pungolian are so rich and loaded with cash. Sell high and they will still buy?
Greedy hawkers taking Pungollians for grANTED? Not everybody can afford to eat on a daily basis at Uncle Leong seafood, restuarants chz charr in Pungool right?
Actually it isn't so bad.. This neighborhood is peaceful the way it is which can be good after a day's work. Returning to the quiet neighborhood; it is almost like a retreat. Having said that, it has been getting a little more visitors due to the new Punggol Settlement and KouFu is getting rather packed recently..
I used to stay at Seng Kang (almost Punggol) before moving out of Singapore. Loved it there!!
1) Cheap flats - for the same price, only ulu parts of Woodlands and Jurong West are available!
2) Mid point b/w Airport and Causeway, Mid point b/w airport and AMK
3) KPE to town faster than CTE, cheaper too
4) Quiet surrounding, there's enough amenities for everyone, what more do you want? Disneyland?
5) I prefer Anchorvale Lane in my address than Hougang Ave 1 or Ang Mo Kio Street 22, less typo on GPS
6) Real friends visit you no matter where you stay, even in the graveyard...
7) Singapore is so small, you can get good food within 30mins
8) Bus interchange is good enough, we do not need so many buses to bring us to every corner of Singapore, we more or less take the same bus even though there are tons of buses available...
9) Can't comment on taxi, but I usually see tons of them waiting to pick up customers at MRT or the mall...
we need more people like you in punggol!
Then ur decision is further cemented, since MBT took office, cheap housing in singapore has become an urban legend
Bigger? How so?
Just staying 2yr and complaint so much.I have been staying in AMK for the past 30yrs and now move to SK,it's a matter of time how to adjust yr lifestyle,it's true that some time it's not so convenient that's why u can't compare mutual and new estate just like u stay at tamp ones for 20yrs it's the same situation as right now it will see how fast it can be grow faster,u are fortunate to have a house compare to those who have been trying to get a new house please think about it.
Our Ponggol BTO flat will be ready around 2019. By then all the facilities will be ready. For example, Safra, Watertown Shopping Mall....etc. As a nature lover who like cycling, fishing and birdwatching, i looking forward to live in Ponggol even i have lived in Tampines for almost 30 years. What I love most is the Reservoir and Waterway is just at the doorstep. It is like staying beside East Coast Park.
Punggol is still a developing estate while other estate such as Tampines are already matured so they do have everything we are looking for.
If I'm not by the end of this year there's a new shopping mall at the top of Punggol MRT, thee's a cinema too so life wouldn't be too bad for you by then.
Development takes time
Haha is a norm that ppl staying there will said there good.. same like if u are selling something u definitely said ur things are nicer then the stall opposite.. those ppl not staying there like me will nv like it.. so I would have to agree with the writer myself..
It's just a just a light-hearted blog but then again i find it is not a good idea to "complain" about a place on the internet, where a lot of ppl is staying there. It will sure garner all sorts of opinions.
I'm staying at punggol and used to stay at my parents which is very near to orchard (walking distance). Not many amenities like amk or tampines but there are many big malls. Anyway, i dun complain much though even when i 1st move in. cos i always think there is always something to gain and something to lose when we choose. Simple logic.
a very irrelevant rant -- you're living there for only 2 years and you have so much to complain about..typical sgporean never satisfied with anything; always something to complain about
Hello! Punggol is far? You must be kidding! Then Bedok and Tampines is not far?!
Come on la guys.. this is a toilet reading material leh. some more 1st paragraph already said 'word hate is a bit strong'
and shared some nice point like 'New neighbourhood, nice neighbours, nice waterway and fresher air too but not everything is a bed of roses in Punggol'
why so serious protecting your loving opinions for punggol?
for the past 30 years i live in hougang, i can say i would never step in to punggol or senkang in those days cos like some of u all say ulu, no trees so hot, rd name buildings complicated. but now, i stay in punggol, only because its near parents house and bto was affordable.. dont get me wrong, now i loves the place, afterall this is where me and my wifes nest is, but i got to share things that are nagative in this place happening..
mostly young couples, those with babies, ofter cry in the middle of the night, without kids, mahjong till morning over weekends.. near airbase, full of air plane noise, developing estate, consturction noise, reno noise, so dont say punggol peaceful or fresh air.
food wise.. i dun know the hawker or food stall standards be4 choosing where to stay do you? the downstairs kopitiam food happen to be not nice how? who would want to travel everyday 20min to tebing and 20min back home for daily meals? the transport cost and the food cost will be a pain.. or 15min to punggol plaza and same back? thats not practical at all.. i mean after a long day of work u still need to spent so much traveling time/cost to get your tummy filled up.. si bei gan kor leh.. shopping mall with cinemas coming up, some how i can fore see that it would be very crowded and not a good place to have dinner there as a daily routine too.. price might be reasonable but doesnt mean cheap?
cabs are really hard to wait.. even 'gab taxi' also sometime no cab near by.. call cab after saying my location, listen music waiting for taxi number till phone auto hang up.. anyway thats only my opinion and experience, maybe can say i sway, everytime when want cab dont have..
friends who drives come visits me still lost thier way, use GPS postal code not found, some took cab can even tell me taxi driver went wrong way. even i myself only know the way to work and back home in punggol how to expect visitors know.. till now my parents dunno edgefield/edgedale/rivervale/compassvale which is sengkang which is punggol......
One man's meat is another's poison.... can't we even voice out our personal opinions? You don't need to judge his opinions. It's either you agree or disagree. If it's the latter, then just laugh it off and move on to some other reads! What's wrong with these haters! Get a life la... for God's sake
Hello. For what u wrote, the thousands of punggol residents who r selling their flats now or future might get a few tens of thousands lesser. They shall all thank You for that.
well. I guess no friend visit you coz u now married, no longer single like u used to be at ur mum place.
Honestly ur points still make sense n quite true.
There are always haters and lovers for a place, or a blog haha...
. One man's meat is another man's poison. This is what many people in singapore still need to progress...they have been caged up too long.
Can't take people who hates what they like ? Sad...
I think Pumggol sucks, just by going there once....there are really many places that serves my life better than Punggol so I join the club. Won't be living or investing in Punggol anytime soon (until it changes that is). I put my money where my mouth is.
If Someone doesn't like what I write too then , be my guest :)
Punggol sucks. Horse no want shit place. And all those gong gong buying properties there. Can never beat the beautiful lights of city fringe and central area. Punggol Sengkang and all the outskirts sucks.
Those who support ulu Punggol/Sengkang/Woodlands/Pasir Ris and maybe Jurong and Tampines. Get real.
1. "It will develop like Tampines or become develop after sometime"
Please... By the time it develops, the central and city fringe will have been miles ahead. You do think central and city fringe will come to a standstill. HAHAHAHA.
Jurong took 50 years and Tampines took 30 years. They are still damn ulu and cannot make it compared to CENTRAL AND CITY FRINGE.
2. "Nice waterfront and future water living"
Are you kidding me? Your bloody canal?
Please, have you seen Kallang, East Coast, Marina Bay. Even Permas Jaya of JB beats your Punggol. You all go to be kidding me. The reason why sk, punggol have all the nice looking flats is to push/coax you all outskirts so that City fringe and Central get reserved for future upgrading. In short, you are the countryside and the countryside is you.
3. "Investment"
Hahaha. You are all seriously funny people.
Top schools - none. Heck, your oldest school is a school call Punggol sec that admits students at msg of 198....Your top school is Nan Chiau, not even near top 40.
Top attractions - none. One bloody shopping mall smaller than nex that isn't ready after 5 years. A future hawker centre most prob. like that of Sengkang - expensive, lousy food with little tradition.
A bloody canal full of mosqitoes and with wild dogs and boars.
At least Ulu Tampines have 4 malls amd Jurong has Science centre etc etc. WTF punggol amd Sengkang have?
Future Airhub you say
Haha, precisely why your air pollution is the worst in Singapore soon. Who will pay you all rent of 2k to be near airplane noise.
I am not sorry to say Punggol Suck cause it really does. And so does Sengkang and most of the bloody outskirts.
Quick check your sewers. See if there are any leakages or smell.

at least waterway point is going to open soon!
I really hate the traffic jams at tpe sengkang/punggol exits. I think with all the new flats and stuff, the traffic can only get worse.
