Despite being the loud and confident person
in front of people, acting on videos, hosting events and even singing KTV in
front of the crowd (Or maybe I was just drunk that night), there is something
that really make me feel small, weak and helpless very often and that is my
eyes.
Me hosting an event at Singapore Turf
Club
NO. Not because they are small but simply
because I’ve very bad myopia as well as astigmatism. Even when I was in army,
all it takes to “strike” me down was by simply removing my glasses and I will
probably see nothing but some splashes of colours and that is why I always
sleep with my glasses beside my pillow. Can’t leave it to chance that other
naughty boys will play a prank on me by hiding that. SEE! Vulnerability and
that is totally not my style.
I always believe in being the strong
and offensive one. Having a weakness is not my thing.
Our eyes are our window to the world so,
just as we don’t want any smudges on our windows, we also don’t want anything
that impairs our vision. There are a variety of conditions that try to block
our view, and Myopia, is one of the most common eye problems in the world. Most
of us know someone who suffers from it, even if the name does not immediately
ring a bell. In sports, the referee is often accused of having it after having
made a particularly poor decision. So what is Myopia? It is a condition where
objects near to the eye are seen very clearly, but objects in the distance
appear blurry. It is commonly referred to in its other guises, short, or near-sightedness.
Near-sightedness should be discovered in
early life and can easily be diagnosed by going through the exercises in an eye
test. It is possible to suspect Myopia before seeing an eye care expert, if you
see a child squinting to see an object in the distance or notice that they sit
themselves down right in front of the television when they are watching their
favourite programmes. It is also important to give a child a thorough eye test
early in life if one or both of their parents suffer from short sightedness, as
it is often hereditary.
Is there a Myopia
Treatment?
It is important to know how to prevent
Myopia and to do this we need an understanding of what exactly it is we are treating.
Thankfully, due to being such a widespread issue, which affects 70 million
people in the USA alone, there has been plenty of study on Myopia treatment and
how to correct it. The condition is a result of a longer than usual eyeball
which focuses light in front of the retina, not allowing the full picture and
causing objects in the distance to be blurred. Good spherically shaped contact
lenses can correct the focal point, changing it to be on the retina and
allowing the wearer to see as if they don’t have Myopia.
See! Now we I can look at girls clearly and make sure I
don’t hit on the wrong “splash of colours”. LOL.
The best for the best! |
